I think the basic problem is that reporters, ITK's etc all get lied to be agents and players. Or get told half truths "Player X wants to join club Y" when player X wants to join either club Y or club Z.

The podcast he did with BillyShears for 93:20 cast a bit of light on it, obviously that's from his point of view but it made sense to me.

With respect to Sam he seems to be veering all over the place recently, Bonucci no Bonucci, VVD may be a top priority but he may not. Seems to be decent at confirming rumours, obviously has links to the club, but he's not exactly breaking new ground.
