No, they don't but I wouldn't want to be telling them they were in the league squad but being left out of the champions league squad. We got away with it two years ago with Nasri being injured, then last year with Toure being on the naughty step, but wouldn't think we would want a different squad list for champions league this season.In the Prem, surely Jesus & Sane don't need to be included in the squad due to their age ?
We can't have a squad for the premier league and one for the CL though, it just causes problems. Kolarov is really the only person who could feasibly be excluded from the CL squad in the way Yaya was when he was a bit-part player.
Not to mention, if we rely on that it's only going to create a massive problem later on when they turn into seniors and suddenly we've got to sell 2 or 3 players who were integral parts of the squad because they qualified as u21's the season before.

Not neccesarily. As you say, Kolarov can fuck off from the CL if needed, right now, then Alves will be going in two years. Yaya will be going, Aguero maybe Fernandinho, Bravo just off the top of my head.

That's 18 foreign players in CL terms. 16 in PL.
So next August, Yaya retires, Kolarov goes and you need to replace them.
So you have to buy a world class CB and a world class CM, but now one of them has to be club trained. Because we've already got 4 association trained HG players, and our foreign player quota only has 1 slot free now Sané is 21.
Better hope Tosin or Aleix Garcia become very good, very quickly.

Think it also depends if there was any truth in the stories the other week about a deal in place for next summer for Hernadez, if there was it would be a straight Kolarov out Hernadez in and so any new centre back now to replace Kolarov might get in the way of that deal..
If that deal is in place then any centre back bought this summer would need to be to replace Otamendi.
It would be next summer that we would need to move on Otamendi, in that case.
I'm no fan of Otta but he's our 2nd best cb currently imo.
What we need is someone better than him now, give them a season to setlle with Otta as a safety, then move on Otamendi next season, unless he has a great one, in which case move on Alvez or Bravo etc.
Yeah but in 12 months time he'll be over 30 and his value will plummet, doubly so if he's been behind another CB for another season, so keeping him for one year as a safety doesn't make financial sense, and that must matter if we're selling off prospects like Unal and Iheanacho rather than loaning them to raise money for this squad overhaul.
Plenty of 30 plus defenders out there who would raise a tidy sum if sold. In the Juve team for starters.
