Two or three years ago I'd be desperate for him to come to us. Now...I'd be happy if he signed but not devastated if he didn't. I'm sure if this one falls through we have an adequate replacement lined up.

I feel much the same. The prospect of a garment rending, tear stained, rant-a-thon on Arsenal Fan TV though, adds an extra dimension to it!

All mixed together with a liberal glug of rum, a Floyd on a BBC funded piss up abroad cooking show sized glug :-D
That's the spirit. I'm more in a taco and Mezcal mood, myself, to continue the smokey theme, of course.

Im playing devils advocate here by the way....

On recollection isn't it the first time he has signed more than a year extension for a long time! That tells me he doesn't want all the media yearly of asking him is he or when is he going to sign his contract. Personally I think he be off next after next season. Oh getting Sanchez on a free next season is fine by me.

2 year contract in 2017.

3 year in 2014.

4 year in 2010.

3 year in 2007.

4 year in 2004.

He's been very consistent with his contracts, he sees them through. It would take something extraordinary for him to retire next season. Winning the league, having a serious health problem or getting them relegated.

Football reasons arsenal shouldn't sell him to us
Business reasons arsenal should sell him to us as the player only wants us
Even keeping an unhappy player and losing out on £50m might seem daft it might be a price worth pay to keep the fans happy
All depends on how the arsenal board see it

It will be nice to get him for free next summer.

We can sign him this January when he has only 6 months remaining on his contract like when Bayern signed Lewandowski from Dortmund.

We can't. English domestic rules only allow you can only agree to sign them for free 1 month before their contract runs out. However, foreign clubs can agree to sign players based in England 6 months before their contract runs out.

Your wasted here Seb bloody wasted, these knuckle dragging dopes think mezcal is summat the doc gives them after coming home from some sexfest of the lowest order on the costas.
Nay, it is a complex, thinking man's tequila used during sexfests of the highest order in Mallorca.

If he had any intention of playing for Arsenal this season he would sign a contract.
Nobody will be getting him on a free.

What are the fans going to do? Besides queuing up to see them cock up another title pursuit? Launch tirades on videos and Twitter? Oh please loyal fans, don't say naughty things about us!

That's why I think the business side will decide and Sanchez will be ours

Dortmund let Lewandowski leave for nothing.

One of their worst decisions in a long time, still finished miles behind Bayern in his final season and still got beat in the German Cup final off of Bayern and then handed him to them on a silver platter.

I don't get this idea of Arsenal keeping him a year only for him to come to us for free a year later.

If the end result is the same yet you will miss out on £50m+, whilst likely keeping an unhappy player, are Arsenal really gaining?

Unless they win the league and hope he changes his mind and decides to go abroad instead, maybe.

I have said on here before that if we had finished outside the top 4 and Sergio wanted out I would sell. Why keep a player who doesn't want to be here?!

If it was City i'd let him go to, no point keeping a player who doesn't want to play for you, better to get the money for him.

I actually don't think we would wait for him next season, I think we're more likely to put that £50m+ towards someone like Dembele or Mbappe.
