I think you have to take into consideration playing time as well.

At City Walker is going to first choice, at PSG they will have likely offered him a role to play every week.
it's his last payday, I doubt he gives a flying one about sporting stuff anymore.

I for one wanted Alves, but let's not be like that disgraceful club on the other side that wear red. We are more classy than that. This is the perfect opportunity to blood maffeo .... if we don't we will be missing a trick. Maffeo and get an experience mature Right back.

Feel sorry for those Blues who raised their hopes on Alves coming but everyone jumped the gun as usual. I for one was not bothered about him from the start. 34 year old coming to a new League and country was a big ask. Just shows, City and Pep are not an easy sell even for players who have played under him before.

Buying Bony, Mangala, Fernando, Nolito, Bravo, Otamendi, Navas.
Even players like Stones and Sterling have much to prove.
Selling Dzeko, Tevez and Negredo.
Allowing all 4 full backs to get over 30 years old and then releasing three of them at once without sorting out replacements.
Appointing then retaining an average manager for 3 years.
Need I go on?
It's never stopped you before.

Makes me laugh thinking back, I got accused of being a flapper on here the other night when the first PSG rumours came out, all I said was that it didn't seem like the usual twitter bollocks - everyone saying Castles was a cûnt etc, which of course he is, and was no doubt being a chancer with his claims - whereas in reality it was City that we're busy making a pigs ear of it, whilst Alves was being a snake.

Hope we get PSG next season, want Leroy (or Sanchez) to rip the twat a new one.

Yeah I got laughed at for saying 2 of the 4 sources were reliable including Duncan. Oh well. I hope I don't have to flap again this summer.

No, you have proved how shallow your knowledge is - well done

We won't have a first choice. If we had signed them two this summer, i guarantee Alves would have played his fair share of big league and particularly Champs league games. That aside, at 34, does he really want to be playing every single week? He'll prolong his career if he's used sparingly and rotated which is something PSG do regularly too by the way, something they can afford to do more than most being in a much easier league.

The wages and probably the appeal of living in Paris where his wife is based is what has won him over not footballing reasons.

I don't think Walker would be playing every week in our system though, we really need two.

Must admit, I was so optimistic this summer after Bernardo Silva and Ederson had been signed, but missing out on Alves will prove catastrophic and it is a huge huge blow for us. Tottenham will charge us an arm and a leg for Walker and I can't see us signing another right back as rotation with Walker now we have missed out on Alves. The man was a freebie, that is what makes me so pissed off how we missed out on him. We should have just stumped up the cash and paid the big wages, we really need to start acting like a big club. Now we are going to start acting desperate in the market for full backs when there wasn't any need to be as long as we got the targets we should have. Dani Alves done and dusted, concentrated on Mendy then tried to bring the price down for Walker knowing that we already had someone in place, but no... City never do anything the easy way. Them rag bastards up the road wouldn't have behaved the same, you only have to look at the Ibra situation, done and dusted, no fucking about.

Fuming. Txixi really needs to step things up a notch now.

Christ I hope this is satire.

Maybe the competitiveness of the league itself has a lot to do with it for a player in his mid 30s.

A new Wife.
More money.
Paris.
The quality and importance of football drops to 4th place for the remaining 2 years of his career.

Shit happens!

We've done it to plenty of clubs.

When that first whistle get's blown against Everton, Dani Alves will be a distant memory.

Unfortunately this strengthens Levy's hand, as regards Walker.

How is it amateurish if he went for the fatter wage packet? The only signings "nailed on" are those announced on the OS that's why City never comment before the player is there holding the shirt

Just feel like he has played us and used our interest and the Pep factor for a better deal. Bearing this in mind we should have been wrapping this up and beating PSG to his signing - surely we could have sold the Pep project to him.

Thanks for stating the obvious though r.e. the official site. If you have a look through the forum though there are plenty of respected ITK's who stated that this deal, along with a couple others, were/are 'nailed on'.

I think you are spot on there pal. Maffeo hardly looked out of place in the team against the scum did he so why not let him learn playing alongside Walker (fingers crossed).
