Dani Alves

I find that barely believable that somebody would intentionally get themselves sent off to attend a birthday party? Not once but three times!!!

It's happened twice. This year he was "injured" for a game.

First time could have been a coincidence, second time was blatant as he got carded in the dying minutes of a 5-0 win against 9 men, where no Barca players had been yellow carded.

I would be surprised if the club wasn't aware of it and endorsed it. The games he's missed have all been against small fry, and it gives him an easy opportunity to clear his yellow card count.

Given that there's no hint that anyone else is in for him, a free-contract for one of the best right backs in the game,it seems the whole of football knows where he is going. Except us, but I get the impatience. Full backs is the glaring weakness and the sooner they are on board the more relaxed we can be

We're actually in a very good position. Clubs like Spurs, Liverpool, Man Utd and Chelsea have done nothing of note yet. It's City and Arsenal who have made the big moves so far.

So if I criticise one transfer target, I have to criticise every single aspect of MCFC? I like the signings of Silva and Ederson. I think we should prioritise a central defender over a striker.

I think we should prioritise a central defender over a striker.

We are an attacking oriented club that does not score at a rate that indicates this tactical approach.

Even whilst we created the most clear cut chances in the league we converted them at a rate far below other clubs. (i.e. Chelsea who took far less chances but converted them at a higher rate). We scored 80 goals in the PL. Most came from Aguero and centre midfield. Out wide, I believe, Sterling and Sane combined for a grand total of 12 or 13 goals and the rest came from Nolito very early last season.

Are you planning to sell Otamendi then, because whoever is joining will 4th choice CB for us right now. That's what we are talking about. Unless you want to convince a top quality centre half that Vinny is just going to become injured anyway. You could, but that would be awfully cynical of Pep and Txiki, especially considering the entire defence improved leaps and bounds when he returned to the side and remained fit. Stones is sure to play more because Pep sees him as the future.

We aren't really looking for a "striker" anyway in the Aguero sense. We are looking for one who can score from a wide attacking position.

So, if Otamendi (most likely to be sold of our 3 CBs) is sold then I can see us being in for Bonnuci or VVD.

Depends on whom you ask. Board screwed up, they know this even if they won't acknowledge it. The bigger screwup isn't really that they wouldn't keep him before heading to Turin for free but that they did nothing for years about grooming a replacement. He's far from the player he was in 2008 but most athletes aren't going to be the same a decade later. So he wasn't going to stay indefinitely but surely could still be playing for Barcelona today - that right side is hurting without him

The best part about Dani, apart from his professionalism and team spirit, was the linkup with Messi - it was special. Truth is, I used to spend all of the warm up focused on him & Leo preparing for a match and you got a glimpse of how he might play in the match. Today, Messi warms up with Neymar & Suarez and it's a tepid warmup by comparison - I think he misses that link up with Alves, tbh

Let's hope your analysis of Alves is better than your one of Bravo last summer :-)

Appreciate the feedback! Further question...how are City perceived by Barca or Real in Spain? Be careful now you're outnumbered ;)
