Benjamin Mendy

Suppose your right, he just comes across a bit to much at times and very loud a bit of an attention seeker if u ask me. There's a big hype around him and I don't understand why. He Reminds me a lot of Micah Richards. IMO Micah was better than him for sure. He's a shit Micah Richards for me.
FFS. He hasn't kicked a ball for us and you have come to another ridiculous conclusion. Are you an adult? gen question

Haha just messing, hopefully everything is going according to plan and its him tomorrow! There were no flights Monday Night into Manchester from Nice, correct?

Brooksy I'm sure has better info but FlightAware showed none last night. Closest I could find was wrong-way Manchester to Cannes last evening (thought it was maybe an outbound leg).

I think it's pretty clear that he's coming. The player wants to come. City want him to come. Monaco are willing to sell for the right price. It'll just be haggling over the pennies now.

I don't think that there's any fullback in Europe with better crossing than Mendy. He's exactly the sort of player that we need. Teams struggled to deal with our wingers when defending two on one last season. How will they cope with Sane and Walker or Sane and Mendy running at them? Should be a good season!

Haggling is crazy, we just need to get this sorted before we are gazumped!

Who is he going to be crossing too though?

Aguero, Jesus, Sanchez, Silva, Bernardo, Sterling? I mean outside of Sane and to a lesser extent Debryune, our attacking players are vertically challenged.

I here a lot of talk about how great of a crosser Mendy. But I hear very little about who he'd be crossing to.
. On the money.

must be news in the next couple of days?? even bloody sky were saying on Friday it was sorted? the HUGE sigh of relief when a top class LB is finally signed will be massive! (ahem)

who says we are haggling and what's left to be ironed out to get it over the line?

Homer says we are haggling over pennies, maybe he is right. I am not sure why this is taking so long to close. Maybe just the medical but I have seen deals collapse at the 11th hour many times.

There's a ton of stats out there about crosses not being generally productive and not creating 'easy to score' chances. This is why we usually try and keep the ball and work it into positions that are easier to score from.

That doesn't meant that Mendy's crossing isn't a bonus though, it is - it'll put the fear of god into opposition defences. It'll also mean defences will watch for him as he's a threat and it'll in turn create more space for Sane (or whoever).

He is a quality crosser of the ball, but I expect he'll use it sparingly and try and pick people out with passes from close in more often. And I give it a month before someone starts moaning saying he always hits the first defender...

Hoping he's signed today and on a plane with Yaya, Sane, Sancho etc soon enough.

Not all crosses are head height

Not sure if it was a freak goal but Jesus' header at the end of last season raised my eyebrows. He seems decent enough in the air, huge spring too. I remember him nearly scoring a header with one of his first touches v Spurs with a great leap. Mendy was crossing to Falcao last season. He's not exactly a giant. All you need is good movement to lose your man and then a cross to match. Look at Falcao's header against us. Deadly cross, a relative midget scored with his head. Pretty simple. Even Aguero has scored some nice headers for us. Plus, a cross doesn't always need to be to someone's head. Kolarov has been crossing to Aguero for most of his City career, and the wee man has been gobbling them up. I think it's quite old fashioned, Big Sam tactics to think that we need to cross to Peter Crouch otherwise don't bother.

Two types of crosses: low and high. Sure we don't play with a target man, but from what I saw of Monaco last season in the champions league, a lot of Mendy's balls in from wide were crosses drilled in rather than floated high.

His low cross for Monaco's 2nd goal in the away leg wasn't bad. Those home draws that proved so costly for us lase season all seemed to feature a large number of low crosses that failed to find one of our players in the box.

So is it Mendy day? Am I right thats what dear leader Ric said? Does that mean if it doesnt happen he will ban himself for wumming and if it does he hits the top of the itk league?

You may be right but Homer surmised that may be the delay.

If there is a delay it is only because someone suggested it was virtually complete which frankly even our negotiators themselves would be unable to accurately predict. Worrying about an ITK´s prediction is not logical to me. so I´m sure all is well but patience will no doubt be rewarded.

All I said was that someone told me on Friday that he was scheduled to come today, don't know whether or not that's still the case as I haven't heard anything since.
