Danilo

As early as Tuesday morning, Danilo will play for Manchester City. The agreement is finally closed, with fringes remaining, and this Friday should become official and be signed in Los Angeles, where will coincide executives of both clubs. The City will pay Madrid 30 million plus five per bonus and Danilo will sign five seasons with the citizens seeing their salary increase considerably compared to what he charged in Spain. MARCA already said that Guardiola ended up convincing the player in the last days after Chelsea had taken the lead, but given the delay of the blues club to close the operation City ended up taking the Brazilian international. His passage through Madrid, with two Champions, one League, one Supercopa of Europe and one World of clubs, determined to look for protagonism in another club, which in the white club had complicated with Carvajal. The Brazilian waits in Los Angeles for his new team, which will travel soon to be measured next Wednesday ... to Real Madrid.

I Don't know enough about him to pass comment but it has to be said that that photoshop is one of the worst I've ever seen

I presume the fact he struggled at Inter Milan before moving on to Liverpool maybe?
Yup 100%, showed promise but was shite at inter.. what I am saying is he could surprise a lot of people. Let's see how he turns out and if Pep believes in him I suspect he must think he can make him a beast.

Not many of us had even heard of Sane before we signed him and look how he turned out.

Ive not seen anything of him,but apparently he can play, effectively,in 3 positions.

Also,Real Madrid must have seen something special about him? even though it hasnt quite worked out there, the fact they targeted and purchased him is a good indicator of a players standard.

What is it you dont rate?

He spent two seasons in Madrid showing a poor football. I have no hope that he will improve now.

I haven't seen a single report of the fee being £35M. Either £26M or €30M.

That was the post above mine.

We could be doing similar on Delph. Apparently we want £10m+ on an £8m purchase. It's a perk of the market.
That's different though. We took advantage of a quirk buyout clause. Madrid on the other hand overlaid for. Danilo on the potential he'd become a star.

He failed to reach that potential. Lost the first team job, and he is not trusted or wanted by Madrid's manager. In essence Danillo is to Madrid what Mangala is to City. An expensive potential purchase who didn't work out.

Yet we are begging for half price on Mangala and can't find buyers, yet Madrid gets to make a profit on Danilo?

Ok!

Danilo started 40% of Real Madrid's games last season where they won a league and CL double.

The season before he started 7 CL games and played over an hour of the final while Madrid won the Champions League.

If Mangala had done the same, we wouldn't be struggling to sell him.

Madrid sold Sniejder and Robben for peanuts. They are a funny old club.

Does anyone have an idea of how often he's actually played at left back? Sometimes on here people get a bit carried away about a player's versatility when in fact they've played in a particular position just once or twice. Is he genuinely a viable back up option for left back or has he just played there a couple of times like Zabaleta did very ocassionally? With Kolarov seemingly gone, if we don't get another LB it could all fall on him to cover Mendy.

More of an option there than say Zabba was but you do have a point, i wouldn't be expecting to see him there when it comes to playing the big teams unless necessary. We definitely need another orthodox left fullback in addition to Mendy. Last night showed us Fernandinho should not be considered cover.

Cool thanks. For all of the criticism he gets on here, I think Kolarov's departure does leave us slightly thin in two positions now. Wouldn't be my first choice either in CB or at LB but he is an able deputy in both. Given the amounts we've already spent though, it's hard to see how we'll go about solving that problem!

Said the same thing in the Kolarov thread. For the amount of crap he gets a lot of people are going to realise he's not easily replaceable. He's covering numerous very specific roles and i can't currently think of anybody else that can do all of those things at least to the same standard that would be available and willing. And that's without factoring cost into it too.
