I think I'd be premature getting rid of him given the fact that Sanchez is in Paris.

Always liked Aleks. Leaves us short at both full back and CB. Will miss those passes out of defence and crossfield howitzers. Best crosser at the club too and against a packed 10 man defence at home, he was often the outlet and likely source of an assist.

Sad to see him go if/when he leaves. Is he the most talented player we've ever had? No. But, he's been at our club 7 years and made upwards of 150 appearances for us. He's taken a lot of shit (and given some back) from/to sections of our support. He's contributed to our success, been involved in important games and isn't trying to fuck the club over. He knows he's not going to be first choice next year and it's admirable, in my opinion, that he wants to push on and play. He's a versatile player and did a job for us in a few different positions. I'd pick him over Clichy any day of the week and for 16 million, 7 years service and getting a 5/6 million fee for him aint bad business in my book. I think we'll miss him personally.

Cheers Aleks, all the best.

Well said. Too many 'bitters' nowadays.

For me only this

Needless and poor quality comment from Pep.

To be fair, Guardiola was pretty effusive in his praise of Kolarov:

"Kola helped me a lot last season in terms of many, many things, but he has a big chance to come back to Rome where he was before.

"I wish him all the best because he is a really nice guy. We had an excellent relationship with him, I was very pleased to train him and I wish him and his family the best."

He's right though, it's in no-one's interests to keep him here if he's already decided that he wants to leave. It's only right that he goes with our blessing after seven years service for the club.

Excellent post.

I can't believe some of the comments on here from fans, Aleks has possibly been our best ever left back, Bought him for around £18m and got seven years out of him along with been part of winning the FA Cup, League Cup twice and Premier League twice, Fair enough the last few seasons haven't been his best seasons but he was outstanding the first three or four seasons. Some of you need to get off his back seriously!

All the best in the future Aleks!

NOOOOOO think of me and @bluegirl74

Gutted Kaz. Post the pic will you. It might help me through this difficult time.

£4.5 m plus £1.5m add ons.

Would the club listen to a counter offer? I cold raise £6m and a penny... ;-)

But seriously it's all been said. He was never our most natural talent but he played a huge part in our rise from "also rans" to champions and for that he deserves our gratitude and respect.

Yes there were bad day (memories of Sunderland flood painfully to mind) but you can't criticise him for not being good enough as we've kicked on to try and build a team to challenge in Europe.

You go with my blessing Aleks xx

I don't see it all mate. Aleks was miles ahead of all of these in my opinion. Hinchcliffe was better at Everton than he was for us, Phelan was ok, McDonald was a little before my time (I started going as a 5 year old in 87) so my knowledge of him is limited and Clichy just didn't do it for me.

Rose tinted specs with Bobby McDonald. Bit of a journeyman who was half decent for us in 81. Phelan had pace but was quite average really. I liked Hinchy though.
