I think the writing was on the wall for him with Pep after the Monaco game.
Occasionally fantastic but usually pretty abysmal. Never liked seeing his name on the team sheet & simply don't rate the guy.
Was better last season at CB but was never going to be a long term option. Hopefully this transfer goes through, will leave with thanks from most fans but don't think we'll particularly miss him if he does go.
If he does indeed go you would think we'd almost certainly need 2 LB's and a CB to come in then.

Good riddance. A weak link for many years. I will say however he was better at center half but not at a level City inspire to be.
I'm sure he will enjoy the many medals he won under all the managers he played for, for the many years he was part of a winning squad

I know many would take him to the airport but for me he gives us options.
He ain't a starter at left back or left CB but he could play when required.
He deserves more credit than he's getting IMO & if he is sold I give him a big well done for the last few years.
Kolarov has done more good than bad & I don't care about his having a go at fans because some deserve it but there has been a couple of occasions he has pissed us off but without doubt he has been a good player NOT brilliant but a good solid pro.

Unfortunately in the system we play his lack of pace and general lack of defensive awareness left him too exposed on many occasions especially in the past couple of seasons. Still have nightmares about how Willian gave him about ten yards last season and just ghosted past him to score. That said he did score the odd vital goal (Sunderland at home in the 3-3) and made the occasional assist.

Has been an enigmatic player for us, that's for sure.
His performance, and the goal by Mane whilst against Southampton the season before last cannot ever be forgotten for me. Yet, he did well for us as a centre half for part of last season, with some stellar cross pitch passing, and solid defending that did not leave him as exposed due to lack of pace/tracking back interest. We really were trying to get rid last summer, but when we failed to sign Bonnuci and LaPorte, Pep kept him around as he must have thought he could convert him into a CB. Mission somewhat accomplished, as he later saw his form dip, and those long passes started going awry.
He had some good games, but also left us exposed time and time again.
The debate between he and Clichy is never going to be resolved, but I'd say that I generally prefered Gael, who had some stinkers for us over the seasons, but usually more reliable as a defender (not saying he didn't make mistakes). Last season for Clichy it has to be pinned down to age, and even Pep preferred him for some reason over Kola, mostly because of pace and team work, which is also where Kola would drive me mad. Far better in the air than Clichy who has given away goals due to this, and clearly better technique, crossing and shooting, but sometimes poorer with decision making.
His performance in our take on the Harlem Shake really says a lot about him as a player for us:
