It's Quiet - a new dawn

No you don't understand, it's all because upsetting United fans would create media attention. We have only United to thank for all our post-takeover success.

isn't that right, @almir

Silly little things like the stadium, infrastructure, established fan base and dirt cheap price because Thaksin needed a get out are all secondary to Mansour just wanting to wind up United fans in the media.

I've heard it from the horses mouth that WE used it as a major selling point when pitching to mansours lot, so you may want to back off that stance a tad mate. As my source was someone who signed the deal, I'm sure you'll still try say it's not the case.

So antagonising United and getting media attention from their supporters was the only reason, the main reason we are currently owned by Mansour today, as almir is saying, or was it just another incidental?

If that's what you heard, that the only reason he owns us is United, I'll bow to your greater knowledge.

So whats next on the agenda then blues ?? Sanchez and a CB ?

God help the raggies come derby day......Maureen has sent woodward to purchase the biggest bus ever which is probably why we haven't heard anything reverberating around salford for a long time. How much does the worlds biggest bus cost these days ?

If we get Alexis and LCB, and manage to offload the further outgoings you've listed then Txiki really has silenced his critics. Its easy saying he had the money to do it but you still need the contacts and the know how to get the players in through the door.
It is my impression that Pep can at most silence critics amongst City fans - all though I am sure some moaners will only go quiet temporarily. With regards the rest of the world Pep is winning new critics with every transfer :-) On German website the tenor seems to be that Pep is just a checkbook coach, who can only buy success, and in reality is not a very good coach. The outrage over City's transfer policy is big and as usual our spending this and the previous years is exaggerated. People seems to simply ignore that we are spending money we actually have and will earn. There is no recognition that City is one of the richest clubs in the world and is not financed by HH Sheik Mansour any more. It is a pleasure to watch, and I personally can't wait for the reactions if we are going to spend another 150 million pounds as Tolmie suggested earlier today.

Sorry I saw you meant Txiki. Well the same goes for him as for Pep :-)

This is a line I have only ever heard rags trot out.

Mostly because it's provably bullshit, he was actively looking for a PL club and tried to buy Newcastle before us.

Looking at it from a different point of view our owner is an investor so sure as a football club we were one of quite a few he could have bought but the east side of Manchester provided cheap land for the academy etc. together with the chance to bond with the local council which brought other financial opportunities eg housing etc..
He provided funding at a time when there was no government money which suited the council as well.

I was talking about critics amongst our own support. Couldn't give a shit what others say. If we're lifting trophies come end of may I doubt they'll be much they can say, and whatever the do say will be drown out.

we owe Gary Cook a lot of thanks for being owned by Mansour. Quite a few forget this..

Haha, I thought about posting that one and the one where the poster ends it with "I hope this makes it to Bluemoon" as they are both equally bile-filled.

Just had a peek on sadcafe ( feel dirty now ffs) ..the quote of I hope it makes it to blue moon was by a rag twat called red ped...wonder if it's short for red pedo

So to summarise, by my calculations we have spent £206m and recuperated £38m from player sales.

The difference in quality from the players we have brought in to the ones we have let go is staggering. We have trimmed the squad and replaced quantity with quality.

Add Alexis and a left footed defender who can cover centre half and left back and we will have one of the best squads in world football. The perfect blend of youth and experience, athleticism and ball playing capability.

Good post mate, interesting to see it all laid out like that. You're right about the difference in quality between incoming and outgoing players.

The squad looks incredibly strong, although I do have slight concerns about how we will line up against the top few teams though, Spurs pressed us all over White Hart Lane last year and we couldn't handle it, Chelsea sat back and we couldn't break them down and we struggled against Liverpool too. Arsenal and the rags we should have taken 6 points from, but with improved quality going forward hopefully that will be different this year.

I just hope Pep does mix things up against the top teams, as Silva, De Bruyne and one other midfielder isn't the most physical of midfields... even if it is brilliant going forward.

I think Eastlands area had been abandoned by the gov the council and the carcinogenic industry that left it in its dangerous condition.
The area was worse than a Sh hole it was desolate and a remnant of previous occupation by industries forced by H and S regs to move elsewhere in the world.

Our owner has worked wonders to reclaim this area and credit to the council they have fully embraced his plans.

why wouldn't you when you're not paying for it.

Just a few pieces to fit in the jigsaw.
What a squad.
The triangles Walker-De Bruyne-Sterling and Mendy-D Silva-Sane are going to be awesome.
