I wish you would all stop worrying about his buy back clause.
He wont be coming back
He is not or will never be good enough for City

Cheers Chappie. Have you thought about giving Pep a call to tell him to stop wasting his time? Maybe you can sort out the problems with our CB options while you're at it. We'll all bow down to your superior godly wisdom.

Seeing as, quite clearly, nobody at City sees themselves as knowledable enough about judging young players in order to make that call, & have therefore knocked millions off the price of the deal, because they are so uncertain, it's reassuring to know, we, on here, have you.

Reckon this is a good deal for City, Leicester and Kelechi. Hope to see him back one day, bags of potential.

Or it's more of a real Madrid style buy back clause. If he improves and someone wants to sign him for big money we buy then sell.

Same thing.

If he's a big money player, then there is a strong chance he's good enouigh for City.

Nobody in football, is good enough to be able to predict the difference at this stage. Hence the clause. They don't know, but they suspect, so are covering the potential outcome.

I hope we don't end up using the buy back clause just to make money. I.e. if the buy back is set at 50m, we don't just buy him back to re-sell because someone wants him for 55m.

Also, I would have thought like most other but back options, the fee we would need to buy him back would be incremental - maybe 35 next summer, 42 the year after and 50m after 3 years.

Slimani says hi. Kelechi doesn't go in to Leicester as guaranteed first choice every game, he'll have to work to earn his spot. Can only be a good thing from our point of view though.

That depends on the nature of the deal. If it's guaranteed it can all go in this years accounts, if however it's dependant on anything incentive based, be it goals scored, international caps, league position etc or even something as simple as a handful of appearances then it can't go in the books until it's triggered, as it's not guaranteed.
If the fee wasn't guaranteed the press would be reporting it as 15M+addons or something.

Because the next time we demand a buy back clause, the buying team won't be so keen if we are just going to take a player back to make a few quid and we then may end up having to sell with no buy back clause

Ok. Maybe not for £5m but anything over that it's purely business and I don't think many clubs will be put off have an asset for a couple of years that doubles in value. If his value rockets then it will mean he's done something right at Leicester surely.

Let's imagine (because that is what we all do on here most of the time) that Pep will stay for another 3 years, and these 3 years will be very succesfull obviously. Pep has done his job from his perspective and moves on. We will get ourselves a new manager, presumely Arteta because Vieira by than picked up the Arsenal job from Wenger.

Anyway, Arteta it is. He might see things a little bit different than Pep. He might play a little bit different than Pep. Aguero is being sold and we need another striker to partner Jesus. Nacho has been scoring for fun for Leicester and is worth probably 120mill (yes, that is the market in 3 years). Arteta says Nacho didn''t fit the Pep-style, but does fit mine. So we like to activate the buy back clause of what , 30 mill.?

Imagine ... that would be some business. Anyway, good luck to the lad. He deserves to be succesfull and maybe, one day, we'll see.

From the little knowledge I have about passports, it takes 5 years after working here to obtain an indefinite leave to remain. Meaning even with his Nigerian passport he can go and leave as he pleases without having to renew his work visa. It then takes another 5 years to be eligible to apply for a British passport. Essentially, 10 years to obtain one. In addition, there's also a threshold on the number of days within that 10 year period he can leave the country (holidays, etc). Unless the rules differ for footballers, that's how it works. However, if I'm wrong and someone has better knowledge I'm wiling to listen.
These things keep changing over time and I'm not sure if what I'm about to say still applies but it used to be 2 years to obtain indefinite leave to remain, you could not leave the country for more than 2 years at a stretch or else you lost your right to enter the country and you could apply for British citizenship after 5 years of first entering the country.

If we don't need him but can make £20-30m off him using the buy back clause then I hope we do use it.

They will, because for clubs that need a quality player and don't have a lot of money to spend, it is a good deal. They get a player on the cheap that would otherwise be out of their reach with a guaranteed profit at the end if they manage to realise his potential. What the selling club do with the player once they have bought him back isn't any of the buying clubs business.

Not sure if there's another thread on this but, I just read that he's having a medical today.
I'm seeing figures of 25m with a buy back clause of 50m. Any truth to these figures?

so let me get this right say in 3 years he is scoring for fun and Barca come in and want him Leicester say they want 100m for him how much do we get or do we have to buy him then sell ?
