Sure Mbappe is the most exciting talent since the dinosaurs walked the earth, but we already have potential world class players in our squad. I can't imagine that Sane, Sterling, Jesus, Mbappe and B. Silva will all be happy with around 20 starts each next season. Will it be like Morata and James, where they leave for playtime? Are we willing to lose one or two of Sane, Sterling or Jesus plus show the world that we aren't willing to trust our own academy players plus signal to the world that no matter how well you do on your loan, we will just buy someone for 180m without giving you a proper chance. Give Roberts some league appearances, let Brahim take the cups. Our attack has a brand new dimension with 2 attacking fullbacks. Jesus is a natural goal scorer, he will be fit for GW 1 and so will Sane. We don't need to go out and spend 180m, just because we can.
I just don't believe we have anywhere near enough cover up front, and must bring in someone.
Nolito and Nacho have gone, and I totally understand that they did not play much last season, but I think that was just because they were a significant drop in standard from Kun and Jesus, but they were on the bench if required.
One bad injury to the front two, would mean we would not have a recognised goal scorer on the subs bench at all, which is no way to start a campaign where you actually want to challenge for four trophies.
If it comes to that I think Brahim Diaz is our plan B.
Diaz will go to Girona after this match.
Is it reported or a guess ?Diaz will go to Girona after this match.
As much as I love Diaz he can't supplement Aguero or Jesus by himself. Perhaps he comes on as an extra rotational guy? I genuinely believe if we somehow don't sign another person to cover up front that Raz or Sane will see extended playing time up top if any major injuries occur to our strikers.Diaz will go to Girona after this match.
Well if that happens you can't blame the youngsters for not wanting to stick around. Should be in the squad.
However, he'd still be getting 1st team football which is more important than rarely getting minutes at City this season. That's the beauty of having a B team like Girona

It sends out a great message. He'll be getting minutes every week in a top league at 17.Doesn't send out the right message and not sure what more him and Foden could have done pre-season to get a chance. Just saying you can see why the youngsters get frustrated.

Surely that would be down to the players, and of course how much playing time they get, Roberts did ok at Celtic last term.Except for Hart not seen many loan spells that have been that successful.
As great as he looked and I agree he looked great, who would he play ahead of or how many minutes would he sincerely benefit from at City in the upcoming season? Too few to warrant staying IMHO. Remember, he's only 18 years old so it's hardly a setback in his development
He's a lovely talent and genuinely disappointed Barcelona weren't able to close a deal on him while still at Malaga - everyone has known his potential for several years now so it's great to see him emerge in senior football.
I think given that he's a CAM it'll probably benefit him more here playing less but under Pep, in our system, in this league and training everyday with us. Rather than playing in a probable relegation battling side who'll likely get dicked by 6/7/8 goals at times next season. As great as he looked and I agree he looked great, who would he play ahead of or how many minutes would he sincerely benefit from at City in the upcoming season?
