I am certainly not overwhelmed about Evans coming but im all so not blinded enough to not understand the purchase of him and the reasons why.

He is going to be 4th choice its not like we are relying on him to win us everything.....
Fingers crossed for the distant future.... ;-)

I really need to dig up the Craig Bellamy thread. It’s this all over again. Solid signing.

There's been plenty like that. I was certainly one. And theres been plenty where people have criticised a signing and been proven right.

He's coming by the looks of things folks, so wind your necks in and support it. He will be better than Mangala and as good as Stones and Ota. If we are wanting to play with 3 CB's, we need another one in. Who else is there? All pundits Iv heard throughout the day have had been nothing but complimentary re Evans. The morning show on talkSPORT were having a cut of the ungrateful type fans that are denigrating him, just like the ones on here. He is a leader, can read the game, has bucket loads of PL experience, is two footed, and is a fighter. He will at the very least do a job for us, and Stones will hopefully learn to cut out the fuck ups when having more experience around him. I can't believe I am standing up for him so much, but some of the crap being spouted here is pathetic and shows up the level of knowledge that exists on Bluemoon.

This is a plausible and sensible post - not saying I agree but you'd do well to take cover- the hoards are assembling with their torches and pitchforks and you could be tarred and feathered if you don't stick to the anti rag agenda ! Lol.

Don't chat, I'm taking cover now. Can't be arsed haha. I was initially against it until I opened my mind, and overall it seems like a good deal to me. Especially if it leads to a foreign slot being left open!

Bottom line

If we sign him and he wears a City shirt I will support him.
I doubt he'll be agent Evans.
If he can do a job and Pep believes he can, all good
If he gives Vinny some time to recover, all good
He knows the Prem, so all good.

He's an ex rag, so was Tevez and Law
Didn't want Bellamy but changed my mind

Yesterday I was appalled, today I'm more reasonable

From my perspective the issue with Bellamy prior to signing wasn't his football ability, it was that he was a knobhead. My issue with Evans is purely football ability.

I have a tin hat (not a nazi one) if you want to borrow it.

He is a defender in the lescott mould, good in a defensive set up,stick him in a high line and we might have well kept lescott

I wouldn't necessarily disagree, and at least you are offering reasoning. I think he is better than that and is definitely a more accomplished footballer. He is a smart defender and should be able to adapt to the system.

I said that ages ago.. spitting at somebodyi is a disgusting thing to do...not something we want or need at City

Yeah, it's far worse than drinking and driving or throwing darts at academy players. Personally, I think we're only buying Evans so that we can finally deliver justice and have him hung, drawn and quartered in the centre circle before the Everton game.

If your an academy player at CB you may as well leave if Evans is the level of player we're buying, and the fact that we are actually paying money for him is a f!***g joke.

Shudda just kept kolarov for that position. Rather that than spunk 20 million on this fucker. I'm not spoilt. I'd have been underwhelmed if we bought him in his pomp with Stuart Pearce as manager. I know not the same time but you get my drift.

Honestly shocked when I first read it.

As I am reading these posts it actually does make sense, hes very experienced, home grown, left sided CB, 29 yo which is ok for a CB.

The negatives are that he will surely sign a 4 year deal, and if we want to move him on in a year or two we will probably struggle to get 10m, typical City. I'm hoping Pep is going "cheap" for a CB so he can get N'zonzi as well, that would be a master stroke, otherwise I wouldn't be too happy but would still get behind Evans.

I mean it was the plan to keep Kolarov but he wanted to leave nothing you can do about that....

That was mine too, although I also doubted Bellamy would have the impact he did have.

In the long run though, what we write on here has no bearing in whether a signing will be effective or not. Don't know why people get so upset because people don't want a player.

if evans comes and it allows us to rest vinny and keep him fit then what exactly is peoples problem, evans could easily play 20 /25 games for us resting vinny for the very big games,he is a decent cb and could do a good job for us in the league cup, against weaker opposition and in the earlier rounds of the fa cup, also in Europe against the easier teams **

** just remembered we only get top teams away in the fa cup,and our champs league draws are usually groups of death hahahhahahahhahahhaha
