It's Quiet - a new dawn

oh i agree but thet are still the club nost players would choose

It helps that Barcelona have a decades long reputation as one of Europe's best clubs in their favour*. The thing is though if we are going to be a club that is on their level (or even beyond) we need to be willing (financial, ambition etc.) to do whatever it takes (legally of course) to encourage such players to to join us instead. Otherwise we will never be able to break the monopoly the established clubs (domestically and in Mainland Europe) has over the best players in the game.

*What many of our rival fans (those who moan about how much we spend on players) need to understand that to attract the best youth players you need to be a major club in the first place and in turn the only way that is possible these days in the Football Leagues of Europe is though such investment (for better or worse).

I don't disagree with anything you say, it would take another 20 years of success on and off the pitch for us to be even mentioned in the same breath as other European giants.
I know barca are absolutely massive now but I remember a time in the 1980s when they weren't so good! It took them over 90 years to win Europe's biggest cup competition so there's hope for us maybe! ;-)
And even the great european giants real Madrid weren't all that great in Europe in the 1980s. Teams like hamburg, steaua Bucharest and psv eindoven won the european cup back then so a lot can happen in football in 20 or 30 years time.

If Messi as much as coughs the right way, we'll do it this window.

That much is clear.

It's on....

Messi signing for us? Utter, utter, utter shite. In fact...

I'm sure we'd be willing to pay anything to get Messi (as would plenty others). It doesn't mean this is realistic at all.

Messi doesn't seem to want to leave Barca - wasn't this the case last year before he agreed new terms (I know he hasn't signed yet)?

Could do with something progressing - if BM's a measure of the prevailing mood, City's missing a bit of the old feelgood factor at the moment.

Can't see Messi arriving this window myself but Barca do look like a club in disarray.... So if there was ever an opportunity it surely is now....
