Wenger hasn't got the foresight but if I was him I would hold out for £60m for Sanchez and offer it Southampton immediately for VVD.
Then I would sell Ox and offer £40-50m for Mahrez.
Two new committed players and an upgrade in defence and creativity.

You're being ignorant. He's had two outstanding seasons for Southampton. Make that one and a half because of his injury last season. You could argue that juventus is a one team league too.

Agreed, he has a unique skill set that fits us perfectly, good in the air, dominating physical presence, great passing and dribbling, can score as well.

I don't think we'll see another CB like him in a long time. He is unique. I would go for as far as saying he is a Yaya type talent for his postion. A talent that is possibly once in generation. Nobody on or off the market comes close.

I'm not sure where all this "he only wants Liverpool" stuff is coming from. Could it not simply be that Liverpool are the only club to have contacted him? I'm really not sure why he would prefer to go there than come here, assuming that he was guaranteed significant game time here. Honestly though, I'm not sure that the budget allows for him. If we did have £70m or so left over then I think that would be better spent bringing in a out-and-out striker. If we can improve our conversion rate to upwards of 30% (which isn't an extraordinary figure) then we'll win the league with our current defence.
