Alexis Sanchez

1) I definitely don't agree that not signing Sanchez forfeits the league. I honestly just felt bad for having a go at him because he's a blue and genuinely wants the best and tried to sympathize.

Nobody doubts he's a blue and that he wants the best. If he hadn't have suggested we just forfeited the league, a quote already well travelled on rag cafe, nobody would give his post a second thought.

1 b) I hardly laid into the club at all and you really spun that one in dramatic fashion. We we're fed a constant narrative that these bonus deals (km + as) were more likely to happen then they ever were. You yourself fed that narrative. How many times did you shoot posters down (citing maks + others) and put an overly positive spin against posters who had a dour outlook for this one. Had to have been at least 20 times. You helped sell this narrative (overly) confidently and it didn't play out like you so confidently tried to sell us. You call me entitled. I call you arrogant. You're a smart guy but you whiffed on this one.

Alexis Sanchez told his friends, family and teammates that he was moving to Manchester City yesterday. Was he selling them a narrative?

You can blame me for your disappointment if you want, and I wish things had turned out as expected, but I'm pretty sure Sanchez is reserving his disdain for Arsenal.

2) 'it's still happening' is another arrogant spin. As I've posted about pogba, km, and Alexis you don't have the slightest clue what's happening or what will happen.

Simon Mullock said we would try again for him next year. If you can't see how that's different than our dropped interest in Pogba, or being priced out of a move on Mbappe, I don't know what to tell you.

3) I didn't theory craft at all. The reports stated all along that they would sell for an exceptional price or if they had a replacement.

And they agreed to City's price. That's undeniable.

You confidently shot down those sources that didn't fit your narrative a hundred times.

Yes I did, because if you want to suggest I should buy into everything a serial bullshitter like John Cross says, you're barking up the wrong tree.

A few days ago the prevailing narrative was City were offing Sterling.

Having said all of that I don't have the slightest issue with you and there isn't any negativity directed at you from my end but I won't say anymore on this matter. Cheers akiva gn

Goodnight mate, we'll feel a bit better when the dust settles on this, I'm sure.

I hope to god we have not tempted providence and players such as Kompany,Jesus/Aguero or Mendy get bad injuries. Chances for the EDS now maybe but there aren't any in those positions except perhaps Ado

Every player who missed out on their deadline day transfer backs down and signs a new deal they have little choice unless he goes on strike or something drastic which I can't see considering he didn't hand in a transfer request.

The lack of transfer request is the key for me it means he was keeping door open to get back on with the gooners knowing Arsenal may screw him over.
What cack. He's over 28 to free to buy himself out of the remainder of his contract any time Arsenal try to screw him over.

The players have the power and you've just made it sound as if they are beholden to their clubs.

I expect Sanchez and Barkley will be sold for cut prices in January

Is there another striker who may be available in January?
We need someone who's better than we currently have, so it's not about depth, it's about strenghtening of the starting 11.
Such players aren't available in Jan, I'm afraid.
Messi won't. Sanchez still might. Pep wants a forward and now that other options like Mbappe and Dembele are gone. Unless we see another Dembele/Mbappe level talent rise in the next 6 months. Sanchez will probably still be the best option in 4 or 8 months.
Griezmann would be a better option, he's a player of the same quality and only 26 yo, Guardiola wanted him since Sociedad days. Is he Utd bound or we have a chance? Would cost 100m, but he's definitely worth it.

If we would have landed Mbappe I would have been thrilled. That would have been some statement. PSG did get themselves some player.

If we would have landed Sanchez I would have been happy as the bonus on an already great window.

As for Evans I'm just relieved the window is closed.

Get him in January for the 2nd half of the season and the knockout stages of the CL. Would be a good boost if we get him 1st or 2nd day of the month. Still cost us about 20m i recon.

Why would Sanchez sign in January? He only has to play another 4 months then he walks for free and any money handed over goes straight into his back pocket. There would be a number of clubs out doing each other to get him. Nice position for a player to get that last big contract.

Because he can't wait to get out of there.

He also turned down Munich and PSG this summer.

There's three scenarios;

1. We go in for him in January at a cut price.
2. He buys out the remainder of his contract in January instead. City compensate him.
3. We wait until the summer and he comes for free.

If he plays for the Arses in Europa, he'll be cup tied for CL, but it'd still be worth pursuing him in January for a push on the League. I think City will.
1. Arse wont sell - why would they
2. Cannot happen
3. Only option IMO and I think we will have moved on by then

Not overly fussed. Would have been nice but we are still in decent shape.

Back in for him in January then?

If Aguero and Jesus click and stay fit, Sterling & Sane progress, Barnardo opens up packed defences, we might not need him!

It could depend on how Arsenal's season goes. If they're in serious contention of re-gaining a CL spot they might still refuse a decent offer. If they're already out of contention it probably means that he isnt firing on all cylinders and they'll let him go. Although by then he'll be 4 months closer to becoming a free agent and might decide to auction his services.

That's true but whole different ball game in January. If a club and City were prepared to shell out £50M plus wages for him in August his value will be similar in January. Difference is that a huge slice of that £50M goes to him and his agent and not Arsenal. Even if he is desperate to leave his agent will be ponting out that over half the season has gone and a few more months will provide a very sweet pension.

Not too disappointed about this not happening.
I'm of the opinion we need someone slightly different to what we already have in this league.
Dzeko/beast type who were instrumental in our league winning seasons

Think Llorente would have been a cracking signing for the price
