City & FFP | 2020/21 Accounts released | Revenues of £569.8m, £2.4m profit (p 2395)

Whenever PSG do anything they come after City. They might as well give Sagna his 40k fine and be on with it.

Really don't see how they can get us for anything looks like we've played by the rules. Sold players, offloaded some players on silly wages, not gone crazy on transfers like PSG.

If they keep doing this shit every year maybe we should just take the gloves off and start throwing our financial weight around and start buying anyone we fancy for silly money.

Why does anyone care, least of all UEFA?! FFP hasn't done a damned thing to help football. Nothing!

These clubs are companies, and FFP is essentially telling clubs how to run their business. Our club runs its business just fine! No debt, constant reinvestment of profits into stadia and community, yet weare always in the crosshairs?! Nonsensical!

Let's start history when the elites want it to start and everything is still the same...City's owners have invested in a club that has grown by leaps and bounds, grown revenues and profits from a sickly, underperforming organization that had a series of poor owners who were putting lipstick in the pig, followed by a crook who almost killed the club completely!

If anything, UEFA (and FIFA for that matter!) should be giving Sheikh Mansour a fucking big, gaudy, shiny award for showing exactly how club ownership should be done! CFG has created a new model for the modern club and global investment in football is supposed to be FIFA's aim, even though most of those funds seem to find their way into WC voter bank accounts!

I'm sure Sheikh Mansour and Khaldoon are laughing over a sumptuous dinner while plotting their next move in the global soccer chess game they are playing. Meanwhile, "top" clubs in most other countries are squealing for loan deals and selling their best players to make up for their half full stadiums and perennial underperformance in the largest contest in football!

Bring on FFP! And, then watch Mansour stuff a big fat new sponsorship deal up UEFA's arse! We are honoring deals, not running from underpriced contracts, and are readying for the next step up in revenues if Pep can help City step up into the top tier of clubs in Europe and across the globe. To do that, we need to win domestic silverware, preferably the League, which puts us in Pot 1 and helps in the CL...which we also have to do well in.

What surprises me is that we were one deflected goal and a crossbar away from playing in the CL Final just a few years ago, yet everyone still thinks we have dramatically underperformed. I don't! Like Pep, I think we don't have a team with CL "DNA." Until at least 2/3 of the team in the field every game has CL experience, and understands how that competition "works" then we may underachieve. However, this should be where Pep's experience proves invaluable...and it didn't at all last season! Losing by 2 goals in Monaco was his greatest failure to date. He HAS TO improve this and establish City as one of Europe's Top 10 Teams, not only for the good of the club and CFG, but also so that our revenues make any FFP investigations look as silly as they actually are.

Poor old La liga. abit rich of them to ask where our money comes from when they have illegally backed Real and Barca for years with dodgy TV deals etc

It looks Iike the cartel backed by La Liga are after PSG and City again.

True or not, I'm f***ing sick of this FFP noose constantly hanging round City's neck, regardless of how transparent our books and dealings are with UEFA.

If true, this stinks of Barcelona trying to get back at PSG for Naymar, and at City for enquiring about Messi. La Liga have tried everything in it's power to try and stop both PSG and City from taking their La Liga Crown Jewels. La Liga has already lost one crown jewel. The other one is also currently up for grabs.

The irony being, both Barcelona and Madrid are so mired in s*** through debt, tax invasion, dodgy deals, that La Liga hasn't got a leg to stand on, the hard faced f***ers.

Going to quote Sterling here, they want to see us falling like the rain but we're flying like a plane

For Barca and Madrid to complain, that really shows where the corruption lies in UEFA.
They have bled their leagues dry of money for years, there are not a viable business model if the artificial enhancement of their league income is rebalanced, like it is in the premier league.
They can see how the landscape is changing and it doesn't suit them one bit.
So fuck'em i say....fuck'em!!!

Would have been top of the league if the Sanchez and JFE deals went through ;-)

True about Sanchez but the sake of Managala would have almost covered JFE's transfer fee. I'm just relieved that the rag stayed at West Brom.

I think the net spend tables I have seen have exaggerated our spend a little. The outgoings column seem to include add ons so on the same basis we've brought in around £100mil plus loan fees.

Pretty sceptical about that report. Seems to be based on a tweet from a journalist with about 3000 followers. If UEFA really were investigating us again it would be widely reported in the mass media. The likes of Ben Rumsby and Rob Harris wouldn't be able to contain their glee. Nothing to see here.

La Liga complaining about 'state sponsoring' is somewhat hilarious, given the widespread enablers given to Real Madrid over the years by the Spanish government.

Yes the Citywatch article is not directly based on the La Liga complaint but on a 3rd party's interpretation of La Liga's complaint and so far the majority of reports state that La Liga are concerned about PSG rather than MCFC.

I guess a reporter could generalise a specific complaint about PSG into the general issue of the state sponsorship of football clubs which some would argue includes MCFC. However although City are owned by Sheik Mansour the revenue coming from UAE companies is not that significant.

Worth keeping an eye on though in case there is a new complaint. The reports are recent but given the profile of the issue, I think there would be a lot of other reports out there if there was a new La Liga complaint

Moving forward we'll be following a similar model of selling younger unknown players, bringing a decent return in. I'd expect Delph, Toure, Fernandinho, Bravo, Mangala, at least, to be sold to make space on the wage bill and another £100m or so net spend. If our profits continue to grow maybe £70-100m in the black. FFP will be a distant irritation we've moved on from.
