Why is it Pep's dream to play 3-5-2 ?

He used 4-3-3 in his whole career with Barca, Bayern and even City and now he is having his best run of results with 4-3-3
Well, he used 3-5-2 in all pre-season games and first 4 league fixtures. I think it tells you something.

True i guess,i'm having a hard time letting our old players go,he might take a wage cut to meet the club in the middle i guess,i just want to see him play once more and go out in true vinny style

Me too, hated to lose Zab but that decision has been fully vindicated.

I fully agree with your thinking on Vinny's future, "post World Cup". Let's hope the club utilise his experience in some form or other. It would be great if Pep takes him under his wing, as he has with Arteta. Vinny has so much to offer, very bright well educated, excellent communicator, charismatic leader of people, a dogged fighter, and winner. I feel that if there was ever anyone to be schooled in Pep's philosophy, Vinny would be that person. If not on the playing side, "wow" the club have someone they could mentor and develop into, well anything! The sky has no limit for Vincent Kompany.
Great post! 100% agree. It’s so sad to see his career ending due to his muscle problems but I think we couldn’t go far wrong with Pep training him up to be his successor.

I don't subscribe to the idea of just getting rid. He is a city talisman, maybe pay him less but he is Mr Manchester City

You cannot carry a crock forever.

He misses 10 games minimum now for a minor setback.

He is not alone their are numerous players who muscles in the calf and the upper leg are shot.

Our squad is paper thin and today its likely we will start the same line up again which is fine when everybody is fit and carry only minor injuries.

Don't get me wrong when is still more than able to hold a spot when he is mentally and physically ok but we need 4 central defenders who will be available for selection in the vast majority of games we play and currently we basically have two without going to the youth.

We don't need to recoup money from Vinny, selling him is not important, if he leaves we just let him go.
I still don’t see anywhere he’d go to, even on a free. I think there’s a job for life within the CFG for Vinny.

he should retired from Belgium long time ago.
get a good run for City in a month or two, n then get injured during international break.
always the same script.
by the time he retired after world cup next year, Pep ready to ship him off the team.

Well I can't imagine he's going to be allowed a squad place next season, you can't have a passenger taking up a foreign place on the hope he plays 3 or 4 games a season.

So, he could retire and stay here, or leave and try to play somewhere else. Or be a free agent and train here until he's fit enough to get picked up by another club.

There's no reason he can't come back here after retiring and work for CFG.

I love him, but he's not played regularly since 2014, and the fact he keeps choosing country over his club won't help his case with Pep & co.

Even if fit he's not getting in this team currently. It's the first time in 4 years that I've felt we are actually okay without him.

More than ok I'd say, otamendi just gets on with it like he's not even there. Stones is a thoroughbred.

as I said I love the guy for what he has done at city and rightly imo call him a city legend , but he really isn't any use to the team anymore ,even when fit he is a liability :( because you just don't know if he's going to break down again during the match affecting our substitution strategy ,

ive always been city first players next, weve got to look at the bigger picture , and sadly vinny isn't in it.
I echo your sentiments exactly. However some of our fans are understandably invested in the nostalgia of the player Kompany once was & not what he is now.

As a former colleague used to say 'He's neither use nor ornament'.

Otamendi is world class, he just always needed a solid partner next to him. That's why he always looked class next to Kompany and shit when he was with anyone else.

Stones and Nico both look miles better now they have a decent keeper behind them and a pair of quality full backs.
