Feyenoord (H) Post-Match Thread

As a fixture we got everything we wanted from tonight. We won, topped the group, rested several key players, Foden got his debut, KDB got the booking he needed and it didn't appear as though anyone got injured. So in that respect it was a perfect night, the performance was disappointing though. That team should have produced a much better performance, we need more from the players that came in tonight, particularly Bernardo, they're going to be needed in crucial league games over the next few months and they'll have to up their game. Back 4 wasn't really tested but i thought they did fine, Mangala and Danilo both had decent games. Gundogan looked a bit off the pace as did Yaya who i think needs a run of regular game time before he gets upto the standard. Great finish from Sterling but he is half the player when he plays on the left.
Disappointed with BS and YaYa, although in YaYa's case it's understandable..
The Mangler looked dodgy with balls played to feet - worrying.
Kun well out of it very dissapointing.
Still we won, dead rubber before we play the Scum.
Result.

Final ball let us down tonight , expected more creativity from Bernardo and Gundagon , and now yaya just slows the pace of the attack down , beautiful finish by Sterling and a great assist from Gundogan. Foden slotted in seamlessly did not look out of place and always showed for the ball , defence was OK but they werent really tested and a couple of hairy moments in goal for Eddie . Its job done and we can now rest players for the derby game and the winning streak continues , we have set such a high standard this season that tonights game was a little disappointing but thats 5 champs league wins on the bounce in a fairly tough group it shows we have come a long way and are genuine contenders for the Champs League. We could draw Juve,Real or Bayern but i bet they wouldnt be too happy if they draw us either , with the 2nd leg at home , we can beat anybody.

Feyenoord defended with a great deal of tactical nous, skill, energy and when that didn’t work, fouling.
Taking pep at his word, that wasn’t our B team. Those on display tonight are part of the squad that train together and should be as a au fait with systems and tactics as anyone else. There should be no reduction in individual talent and no drop off in performance. That is what Pep is aiming for and based on tonight we are some way off that as an ideal. I thought Eddie was very good but his distribution was disrupted by a lack of familiarity. Yaya and th3 back 4 didnt give him as many options as he would usually have. Mangala lacks confidence on the ball and got shaky at times. Danilo isnt a left back and we really missed John’s calm leadership. I think we will get away with it as long as we keep Vinnie in cotton wool for the Rags and Spuds. Yaya is a big drop off for Fern at this stage of his career and we lacked the dynamism and energy in the DM position. I was looking forward to seeing Gundogan and Bernardo start but was pretty underwhelmed, particularly by Silva’s performance. I think Pep will have learned quite a bit from tonight. Great to see the two youngsters get their start and a very positive outcome of the night with us winning the group. We also gave a good rest to some of them that needed it. I think I might persevere with Mangler and Ota for Sunday in the hope that playing will help their understanding and confidence. I’m afraid I can’t see past Kev, Dave, Raheem and Leroy starting every game and give them a rest when the game is won. We can’t afford a similar drop off of performance in the PL.

"Typical City" these days is playing a bit poorly but still dominating the game but omly just doing enough to win. I don't think we can rest Silva, Sanè and Fernandinho and expect to do well.
To get over this, we need to play Jesus out on the left more and Bernardo on the right more. Especially against the lesser lights..
Not sure where Gundogan's best position is? Probably as Kevin's replacement. Should we try him instead of Fernandinho too?
Sterling playing the Silva role towards the end won it for us.
Group won. Need to play the 2nd team in the Ukraine.

Wasn't the greatest performance but it was a job well done....Eddie is so confident and it makes it easier for the defenders knowing he's behind them.
We played much slower than we normally do but with all the changes that's to be expected.
Happy enough that we won and kept a clean sheet with no injuries and nice to see Foden get some game time as well as Diaz.
We won't always batter teams but the important thing is even below par we keep winning.
Thought the feyenord fans did their team proud..
Full strength team v Huddersfield on Sunday and 3 more points hopefully.

Bernardo silva has been a huge disappointment so far. looks nothing like the player he was at Monaco. Gundogan ditto. Not sure more game will improve them either. We have a fantastic first 11 and when a few key men are out we revert to being slow and laboured. Judging on what i've seen of them so far I'd say Bernardo and Danilo wont become regulars for us.

De Laurentis (sp) would have nice things to say about us if Napoli crashed out due to Shaktar beating us, not that I care.
Back on topic, watching that reminded me of Pellegrini's last season. Pep's system demands a very mobile DM, which Yaya is not. Thought we played better when Gundo dropped there to replace Yaya.
Got the job done in the end :)
De Laurentis can go fuck himself and that goes for their fans too, I'd play the stiffs if we had a week off after the game.

Why do people expect so much of a team put together for one off match. Players who've only stared 2 or 3 games all season and expect it to click into same rhythm as the regular 11. In pre match some had brainwave play full second string with both kids playing. Feyenoord were always going to be better than in first game.
