Feyenoord (H) Post-Match Thread

1pm is a bit early for me given it's an evening KO, can you stream it via FB! If your Twitter 'friend' though JD were depressing what did he/she think of Morrisey

Just before I deliver the final kick to the head which renders him unconscious, that's what I'm going to scream into his face:

"WHAT ABOUT FUCKING MORRISSEY?!?!?!?!?! EH?!?!?! YOU GOBBY FUCKING TWITTER TURD !!!!!!!!" ...........*Bang. Light Out*

I thought it was a very professional perfomance last night in what was really dead rubber. We have to conserve energy for December. I would take the same on Sunday if required. We have to manage our way through the next month so we don't burn out too early. The key time will be March and April.

The mods will soon have to set up a new section, Fight Club, where disgruntled Blues can exchange insults and set up fights to settle arguments lol!

On a serious note things can sometimes escalate rapidly and get out of hand online as in real life. I have had the odd heated exchange myself where a mod has stepped in or angry pm's fly back and forth before I think " What are you doing you stupid bugger?'

When I worked on the ships heated disputes were often settled with an offer to "Get on deck!" and a punch up ensued. Afterwards it was usually a handshake and a beer. In the end if the offer came I would say " We can go on deck, knock seven bells out of each other then come back and have a beer, or we can cut out the pain bit and move straight to the good bit the beer. What do you reckon?' It often worked lol!

That's because we were

I often agree with you but not on this.

Obviously it depends on how you define poor and if you have it relative to City's best, there's quite a gap but we totally dominated that game against a side that defended well. I had to cancel my trip up to the game at fairly short notice and make do with watching on TV so it's not so easy to see the shape of things as it is from Level 3 of the Kippax. However, it looked like Feyenoord did a really good job of denying City space. I didn't really focus on their players individually but I thought they were trying to man mark a lot and Pep seemed to confirm that in his interview. Maybe GVB watched Wolves. Anyhow, the opponent didn't make it easy.

We dominated, we won. Most teams would be delighted to do that. We aren't most teams, granted, but in the context of the wider world, that performance was at the lower end of decent. Poor is what I saw of Newcastle at the Swamp during the 20 minutes of that game that I could be bothered with.

Pep: "A big congratulations to our Academy. The Club should be so proud. We had a 17 and 18-year old making an appearance in Champions League and had the result been more comfortable, they would have played more minutes."

Raheem Sterling: "What we've shown this season - no matter what competition it is - if it's Champions League, Premier League, cup games, we've got the mentality that we want to win and even if it's sometimes ugly, we just try to make sure we get the three points and the win."

Yep, Feyenoord played a very limiting game, with the aim of avoiding another kicking and they did so well against our stiffs.

kicking the ball slow. The speed that the ball travels from player A to player B. All to do with tempo.

I know what you meant! I was yanking your chain on that last bit.

Yaya played the ball at a variety of paces last night and the point is that he can play the ball quick and do the one touch, two touch football Pep wants; which the person I first responded to suggested he can't. I rewatched the first twenty minutes of the game and on the few instances where Yaya did hang onto the ball, I think he was justified in doing so.

I'm glad I usually agree with you but Joy Division are hardly joyful.

"Having slept on it, I find that a highly satisfying victory. Thing is, yes, we play this beautiful football and blow teams away, but we're not going to do that every single time. What particularly impressed me was the sheer bloody-minded determination to keep plugging away, and take – not the draw, which would have been enough given what happened in Naples – but the three points. These players want to win, on all occasions, in all circumstances, in whatever manner the circumstances call for. And that attitude now runs not just through the starting eleven, but the whole squad."

Raheem Sterling: "What we've shown this season - no matter what competition it is - if it's Champions League, Premier League, cup games, we've got the mentality that we want to win and even if it's sometimes ugly, we just try to make sure we get the three points and the win."

Raheem, stop plagiarising my posts. Find your own things to say.

It's going to be easy for any match-going blue to watch because he's just PMed me asking to meet in Mary Ds before the Southampton game.

He needs to know that by 1pm I will be "in the zone". I've got two meetings that morning. One with some gobby prick from the Koi Carp forum who claimed that adding salt to your pond in winter reduces the sediment, and another with a Twitter "friend" who claims that Joy Division were depressing.

What a day this is going to be for justice.

Only thing I want to know: who's going to be the first to call the other a shitbag?

That was just pure class...

Remind me again who was it that said Sterling couldn't Finnish:-)

Reflecting on last night a few things really stand out for me that do cause some concern, let me start by saying that no matter how good our squad is we would always miss, Sane, Silva, Ferny & Stones.

It is glaringly obvious that Yaya can not do the role that Ferny does, nor do we appear to have a back up who can.
Stones is so much more than a centre half in our system, the way he brings the ball out from the back really suppliments our midfield, i don't believe we have anyone else capable of this role.
Silva, answers itself really, we really miss him when he is not there.
Sane, again is a one off, if he is out we don't have anyone that can offer the same.

Injuries to any of these players will cause us problems in the future.

You should have seen what happened to the last guy who called me a shitbag on here.

I got three trains and a bus up to Dundee and left him needing a shitbag for the rest of his life.

That's just wrong but hay Ho whatever floats your boat.
