last man has sod all to do with it. No point refereeing to the laws of the game if you're going to make them up (unless you're reffing United)
 
Never a goalscoring opportunity he was pretty far out and not to mention covering players.

I think you have to judge it as if it City attacking instead and Jesus was brought down like that. Personally I would be disappointed for the defender not to be sent off (like ake for Bournemouth earlier in the season). As others have said I think the fact it happened so early on gave the referee a big enough seed of doubt for him not to make that call. I’ll definitely take it though.

I don't think it was a nailed on red, but I think we got lucky as it was
1- the ref's first PL game
2- only a couple of minutes in
3- The ref will have seen Stones was level with Vardy

It was a yellow. It was a yellow because that's what the ref gave. Move on.

The law says "denial of a clear goalscoring opportunity".
"Last man back", although a beloved measure by many in the media, is not mentioned at all. Even if we wanted to acknowledge it as a handy metric, it would still be entirely peripheral to the actual law.

We can't. It seems games are being refereed fairly. After the first two games I'm convinced City have dome something as you could see where it was heading.

Agree , because Luiz should have seen red last season when he fouled Sergio , my point is i do not remember the media / pundits after that incident constantly referring to how lucky Luiz and Chelsea were and how it was a nailed on red card and yet they were virtually identical offences

After the first two games of the season it was starting to like a continuation of last season where every marginal decision seemed to go against us, and there were also some very strange refereeing performances which led to us dropping points. I think the Boss man got to the point where he couldn't allow thing to continue the way they were. I wouldn't be surprised if he's got his legal team on it, and words have been had in high places, behind closed doors for City to be treated fairly or else.

I can see why both Vardy and Ake incidents were not given as red. Are they clear goal scoring opportunities? It's hard to say, still a lot to do.
Either could have gone the other way, but I can also see why not. Don't think either are correct or incorrect.

But wearing your own team tinted specs doesn't make it a sending off.
 
Local radio up north this morning stated on their Sports bulletin that our lead was 6 points as we drew 1-1 with Southampton, maybe their reporter went home at 85 minutes...
 
Just watched the sports section on BBC breakfast. They were creaming over Rooney's goal from the half way line, then later they showed Sterling's 96th minute winner and the cretin of a presenter said something like "And Sterling there celebrating like he's just scored from the half way line or something!!?!"

Unbelievable.
