Sergio Aguero - 2017/18 performances

He had little space or service today. Cannot blame him for that. However, his touch was really poor.
He's the type of striker who needs service as he rarely creates chances for himself. That last goal at Watford was the exception rather than the rule.

Jesus and Sanchez are capable of creating chances for themselves which is why I still think we'll sell him and buy Sanchez and A N Other.

I am worried that we are seeing his last season with us, I love the guy but we are just too wasteful up front and need someone who is absolutley clinical. I believe that Pep rates Jesus ahead of him and i am guessing that he dropped Jesus to the bench today with the intention of him starting the derby next week.

I am sure there was some pressure to keep Aguero until e broke the record but now that has gone I suspect we are seeing his final season.

IMO selling him last summer could be a great business. But I doubt that City will move Aguero next summer, given his status, exorbitant wage and contract expiring in 2019. Guess he'll stay to fulfill his deal, featuring as a rotation player.

Awful today. He lacked workrate and he struggled to get involved.

We are so much better with Jesus in the three.

Every time i see Aguero starting ahead of Jesus.....i get a little bit worried. Which sounds crazy.

But i feel like we are much more dangerous with Jesus up top. I don't think he has scored a non-penalty goal since Napoli away.

Workrate definitely down from earlier in the season.

I don't think signing Sanchez in Jan would do us any harm at all to be honest. Keeps both forwards on their toes and gives us an option out wide too. Be the only chance Sanchez gets it winning a title medal. He ain't going to win one at Arsenal.

Love Kun a will always be a legend because of that goal , but he has lost a yard of pace and he doesnt react as quickly in the box , sad to say if Real want him and bid £60m then let the lad go , we have seen his best and he has been brilliant for us. Football is a ruthless game and there is little room for sentiment and Kun going to La Liga will lengthen his career and would be a good move all round , we get a decent fee and Kun leaves with his head held high hopefully with another league title medal , because i cannot see him being happy playing 2nd fiddle to Jesus or another world class striker who is bound to arrive next summer.

Since getting the record he has ditched the workrate that got him it.

Jesus to start the derby for sure.

That's bollocks. Absolute, complete bollocks.

I can't believe any City fan thinks Guardiola would keep Aguero in the team if he wasn't giving 110% effort and doing what Pep wants.

We created very little for Sergio today. He was given zero space and nothing to work with. I’m not sure how anyone could say he didn’t work. I thought he ran his socks off. When Serge is at his best, we are putting dangerous balls into the box, either through balls or low crosses. I don’t recall one in the first half. We were poor first half but I would not blame Sergio for that.

having an off-spell but after a car accident and a dizzy spell I was surprised he came back as well as he did. He's got it in the locker and worked really hard to become the striker Pep needs and despite how effective and good Jesus has been looking up front Pep is still turning to Kun, which shows he's giving him what he wants. If he's chosen next Sunday (up to Pep obviously) then just needs the tempo to be raised behind him and for a chance to fall his way early on and he'll be back in scoring nick. Kun tends to have something up his sleeve on derby day.

The problem is we're not suffocating teams to the extent we used to. There's a lack of space in the box and it's culminating in Aguero being completely marked out of the game. It's difficult, The effort and application is all there, hopefully Pep might use this new system he's seemingly stumbled on.

Agree with those that say it was tough for him & that he had no space/service; however he also did play poorly when the ball did eventually get to him - the few times he had a bit of room & the ball he took a really poor touch. On top of that his link up play just wasn't happening today.

Jesus came on & had a much greater impact, albeit against tired legs & with the additional help of a fellow striker on the pitch.

He'll re-find form, but for next week I expect we'll see him start on the bench.

will always love kun
but i have to agree with some of the others; we have seen the best of serg in my opinion
has lost some pace, first touch mostly bounces off him and many attacks break down with him
sounds harsh i know and he will still score goals for us and still have good games
but we need all eleven working at the same rate
i could actually see players hesitant to pass to him today.
dont get me wrong i love the guy for what he has done and achieved for us
but like any successful club we need to constantly improve and evolve
and if that means letting our legend go then so be it
