Yep. Part of that good job has been Yaya not even making the bench for games like the derby.

Yes but use him in the easier games. Can’t believe we have anyone slagging this legend off!!

As I said I thought he was great.

Especially if its giving others 20 minutes off.
I’m all for it if he’s gonna replace players once we’re 3-0 up. Still rather have a couple of youngsters in that situation but I suppose he’s gotta earn his wedge somehow.

I'm not slagging him off. For once he's accepted things with good grace and kept his twat of an agent quiet so no bad feelings from me. Fact of the matter is though that he's slowing down our build up play and killing our attacks, he's not scoring any more and he's just as shit defensively as he's always been, Dinho badly needs cover within the squad or he'll burn out in February like always and Yaya while taking up one of our 17 spots isn't capable of providing it.

Was excellent for what was required bar his usual hanging on to the ball on one occasion for too long.

With our defence set up the way it is this year these lapses like that are not punished like last season.

first thought at the final whistle is proper weird if you ask me
If you’d taken a moment to notice when the thread was posted, it was 5 mins after he came on when he tried a sprint and couldn’t get close to even a jog.

However, you just moan on as per usual.

And of course, no one on here is slagging him off in the slightest. Just saying he’s now a passenger and not sure we can afford a spot in the squad.

One word....Bravo.

Stones and glasshouses springs to mind so you enjoy the win whilst we discuss Yaya if thats ok with you?

All players have to decline and that is where he is right now, he just cant get back and track when needed..but we City fans and the club were blessed to get him still at his best. He was one of the players that got us to where we are right now snd that should never be forgotten. Those monstrous runs with the ball, the goals and winning goal in the FA Cup, and the fact that hardly any other player could out-muscle him off the ball and the majority still cant

This season has just proved what we could have had for the last 3/4 seasons if we’d had a manager with the guts to put the ‘team’ before individuals who selected players based on merit rather than sentiment/big names.

People said we couldn’t replace Yaya, people said we couldn’t control possession without Yaya, people even said we should keep Yaya and replace Silva - 3 years on and I’m still laughing at each and every single one of you, there’s a fair few on this thread alone.

Have the thread police gone so I can comment on yaya or is it too soon?
Yes mate, we can get back to talking about one of the finest players to ever wear our shirt and whether we can cope with keeping him in a squad place until the end of season or can we not afford to be sentimental?

Yaya has a role in the squad. His role is to come on when we are three goals to the good and we want to control the game by playing keep ball. The box to box lung buster runs are not going to happen. Bulldozing his way through an entire team is not going to happen. Rapier through balls are not going to happen- not too often anyway. But recycling the ball, playing one touch passes that grind the opposition down and making them chase shadows is something he can do as well as any.

I don’t expect that role will justify another contract extension, but he definitely has a place for the time being.

That’s why Pep plays him, really.
