Vincent Kompany injuries

Yep, he 'got' us as a club from the minute he walked in and has been Mr Manchester City.
The respect he carries throughout the game and not just at City says a lot about the man he is.
Yes, his injuries sadden me and mean that Pep can't rely on him but no way should he just be thrown to the side, we should be better than that.
If I had my way, Vinny would have a job for life at our club.
Nobody has said that though. Of course he should be given a job if he wants it. But on the pitch, as a serious option, he just can't do it anymore.

Vinnie celebrates like a fan, tells you all you need to know. Let him take a good rest get fit and lift that title in May.

Can he just retire and become a managerial understudy already? It's fucking killing me to see him injured again. The man's a broken hero.

Last night didn't really matter as Newcastle were so ultra defensive. However, it's a waste of a substitution, and considering Guardiola's fanatical focus, drive and determination, it's strange that this unprofessional situation has been allowed to continue for so long.

The idea that managers always need 3 subs available is over the top to me & has been used often as an excuse not to have any young players on the bench.

Vinny has played a decent number of games this season & would not be needed for even that many if we had a genuine top quality cb to rotate with Stones & Otamendi.

I don't understand the desire to kill him off, when he's perfectly capable of playing games for us.

Just sign a top cb as we should have done in June, & see how Vinny goes, along with Tosin.

No need for any drastic decisions. Just work with it.

How do you know he wants one. He has business interests here and in Belgium doesn’t he?
He didn't say he wanted one just meant he would offer him a job for life if he wanted it.

Feels so sorry for the big man. He desperately wants to be involved in this magnificent team. Hopefully he can make another comeback and play a few more games this season.

That argument is fine

That argument would be fine if Kompany had lasted the full 90 minutes in his previous away game at United.

Instead we’ve had this continual farce of first half substitutions from the Britannia to the Bernabeu. In fact, we’re now in double figures since his first bad injury.

By all means keep him, but City now play better football with Stones and Otamendi

...when he's perfectly capable of playing games for us.
That's just it though; he isn't. Or at least he doesn't seem able to play a prolonged spell (say, a dozen games) without an injury occuring. The odd 3 or 4 games here and there isn't doing him or us any favours. We could do worse than find some role at the club for him (I'd hate to see him leave), maybe as Kiddo's long term successor. But we now need to rely on Ota and Stones as our first choice CB pairing, with the Mangler and Tosin as back ups.

He has 18 months left and no one else will pay that much given his record since 2014, so he is bound to stay until 2019.

He will end up on telly as he will get more money doing that, it is a no brainer.

Everyone last night thought that Sergio must have picked up an injury when we saw Jesus warming up. I don't even think Vinnie had made a tackle so how he picked up an injury is beyond me. Why doesn't he ever appear to pick up an injury in training. Unfortunately we can't afford to have a player starting who we are continually fretting about as to whether he will last longer than five minutes.

When the time comes, I doubt if he’d want some bobby’s job, meeting, greeting, fluffing and sipping Prosecco. There would need to be a meaningful coaching role which benefitted both parties. Otherwise he’d probably be better pursuing other interests.

A fit in his prime kompany walks into most teams in Europe
So does a fit in his prime Summerbee but I wouldn’t waste a CL spot on him either right now.

Kompany is a legend but his race is run. We need a CB we can rely on and we’ve not had that of Vincent in three years.

Hope he can find a job for life at City down the road.
