I'm no idiot because there is only one idiot who would put an injured player on the bench.
But you are missing the point our defenders in particular Stones take chances when they are playing out from the back.
The big difference year has been the man in between the sticks and Stones developing as a player.
In relation to Mangala what most non haters could see was that he was overloaded and exposed on a number of occasions due to the inexperienced left back. Also the fact that Pep didn't take him off said a lot about his performance during the game.
Firstly, no one is advocating putting a literally injured Kompany on the bench FFS.
Secondly, "our defenders in particular Stones take chances when they are playing out from the back".
No. No, no, no, no, no.
Do not try to draw comparisons between Stones possibly making a mistake while playing progressive football that's integral to our build up play, and Mangala not being able to read the flight of a football, or constantly get caught out of position. Mangala doesn't take risks with possession, that's one of the main reasons he is beyond all hope. If he did, then we could hope for a Stones'-like uncertain phase being followed up by some great play. Mangala though, doesn't take risks on the ball, he plays very poor, sideways or backwards passes and doesn't start attacks at all.
Secondly, Mangala was not "overloaded" at any point in the game. Wolves had 1 player left up for Mangala to deal with, there was no overloading, no having to defend 2 or 3 players because Zinchenko was out of position, there was just 1 teenage, back up in the Championship player who mugged Mangala time and time again.
The fact Mangala stayed on means nothing either, except Wolves weren't trying to attack, just go to penalties.
