Nothing wrong to bring Yaya at 3-0.
Good game management by Pep.
Had a good passing control in midfield, also tried to pass the forwards in some good position.
No complaints at all from my side.
Fair enough. Good to hear a differing opinion.

Don’t agree at all, but nice all the same.

Brahim/Foden should be taking Yaya's position on the bench. The same way that Maffeo should've been playing instead of Sagna or Zaba last season.

It's really hard to complain about anything during this remarkable season - but, I feel with Yaya in the team we are a great top four side and without him we are a 20 points clear unbelievable machine. I know there are some that still think he has passing control but three times tonight he put team mates in strife with passes back rather than turning and moving forward like Yaya of 2011-14. Time waits for no-one.

yaya can still play a role in this team, for example against the teams parking the bus, he can deliver some nice over the top passes

Not sure what Yaya did wrong to warrant some of the abuse he's getting in here. He still passed it around nicely and recycled possession well. Slow as fuck but he did barely anything wrong on the ball.

At 3-1 last night he made 2 great clearances in our box when it looked like he'd lost the flight of the ball and recovered well.

But replacing Fernandinho means doing a hell of a lot off the ball as well.

For example, when we attacked them at the end, Bernardo moving the ball forward passing to Aguero, only for Gomes to save and quickly ignite a counter attack. Yaya was the one who should be sweeping up in the midfield, but instead it was Bernardo who had to run all the way back to break up the play, he flew passed Yaya who was in his regular jog-mode. I'm saying, "slow as fuck" really equals to not being good enough, and sentimentality has no place in judging a players quality. He weakens us, he is a hazard. Dat is a fact. :)

I don't remember the last time he has done that though. :( These days it just feels like playing with 10 men when Yaya comes on.

Oh he's past it defo, but people are acting like he scored an own goal, nearly got sent off and gave the ball away repeatedly. He didn't. He was alright and served a purpose of letting someone get a rest.

I agree with that.
And I am certain Yaya gives what he has, does his all for the team. But the thing is that it isn't enough to warrant a valuable spot in our squad.

Sans baggage - of which there is so much with Yaya - I'd agree with this.

Trouble is, Yaya is lazy on the pitch, commands an enormous salary, and takes every opportunity to hold our team for ransom, trying to extract even higher wages.

And I don't buy for a second that it's not Yaya - it's his agent. If that were the case, Yaya would have parted ways with his agent long ago.

So... whatever. As good as Yaya has been for us on the pitch in the past - he's past his time - and for me - has burnt up nearly all of the goodwill I'd otherwise feel for him.

My main objection is the way the entire team just stops functioning with him on the pitch. The press collapses as he can't do it, the passing slows down as he doesn't move into positions to receive the ball and then is slow to move it on when he gets it, then the passing out from the back falls apart as he's not making himself available. It's like playing with 10 men, but without anyone telling anyone else to fill in at the most pivotal position on the pitch to make up for it.

The reality is that he doesn't look to do a whole lot wrong because he's simply not doing anything. The only purpose Yaya is currently serving is giving Fern a rest, but literally anyone could do that in his place and it's hard to imagine they'd offer less than Yaya. (bring back Aleix for example)

Is he off to the African cup of nations 2018?
Heard reports a few weeks ago he had reconsidered his international retirement, not sure if is in the Ivory coast squad?

I thought we might look to send him to NYC in January to make room for new foreign signings in the squad. Does he have the hunger to make a difference or is he just looking for the maximum pay out?

Exactly the feeling i had from his performance, slow indeed but also very experienced and cool headed player with good technique. His passing is still very good indeed, and i was kinda impressed how he seemed to make up for him being slow by using his experience.

The next African Cup of Nations is in 2019

He did nothing wrong, so posters on here who are questioning why he's in the match day squad? Well Pep seems to think he can still do a job & I reckon he kinda knows.

Yaya hasn't been in it for at least three seasons. FINALLY it looks like his loyal band of merry men are also realising it.
