Not necessarily. Arsenal could be looking at getting a replacement in before letting Sanchez go, or they could be attempting to bring the price up by waiting until the end of the window and forcing City's hand.

Arsenal looking for a replacement shouldn’t mean we don’t make a move. It’s a very short window

Liverpool may be eyeing him too now they have the funds. Doubt he wants to go there but still they might ruffle out opportunity to sign in January

His wages at City will be be far more than anything Liverpool will offer.

I’m not deluded into thinking one of the reasons Sanchez is joining City is because of a decent pay day as well as a chance to win trophies.

He wanted around 300k a week from Arsenal.

Now I don’t think we will offer that, but I do reckon it will be around a basic wage of 200k a week plus some heavy bonuses if he reaches them.

Nah. I think Sanchez made it clear that he's only going to play for us. Arsenal knows that, and they know that we know that. Any dipper interest will have no effect on signing Sanchez whatsoever.

He wants to play in England. He wants to win trophies. He wants to play for a Pep again.

I think that narrows his options to ONE.

If he wants to win trophies both home and abroad at 29 Liverpool is not an option for him.

You only go to Liverpool because you know you will get regular game time and have a chance to play in the Chumps League without any hope of winning it.

Haha! I’m talking about their keeper winning a year of free pizzas for keeping a clean sheet!!

I know, I was only giving you a hard time.

Did you see the actual post-match interview where the interviewer awkwardly starts it with the Papa John’s prize pronouncement?

I watched it live and squirmed in my seat it was so cringeworthy.

Clearly we were in for him in the summer and Pep wants him to add to what we have in the final third.

Sanchez knows we want him or at least wanted him and he was happy to come and let others know accordingly.

He has played under Pep before and he knows his strengths and weaknesses.

Its down to Arsenal really although football is very fluid I am sure if they get a suitable replacement he will come to us either in this window or the next barring a PSG or Bayern etc coming in for him with a better deal for Arsenal.

We need reinforcements and IMO he fits the bill.

I did. ;)

However, the keeper was nice enough to give Papa John’s a nice plug for their sponsorship. Life is every different in the lower leagues, where a pizza promo is worth real money to the club.

Speaking of pizza, it wasn’t you that ordered the pizza in the blizzard and the delivery guy had to wade through the iceberg-laden streets to deliver it, was it?!

Nice to see the beeb desperate for him to go to Liverpool with some if the Countinho cash.
Now that would be selling to a competitor!

I would imagine LFC have spunked the Coutinho money on VVD - £75m & the obligation to buy Naby Keita - £70m.

I was talking to a deluded Dipper colleague last week, cos I thought summat was up when they bought VVD & said Coutinho needed a rest & then was injured. A football finance expert came on telly last Tuesday & said if LFC paid £75m for VVD & were committed to £70m for Keita, the only way they could afford it & avoid FFP sanctions was through player sales or a massive new sponsorship deal.

He said, there were no new sponsorship deals being mooted, so the logical thing was player sales & only Coutinho or several squad members being sold could possibly cover the cost of VVD & NK.

Southampton apparently blagged LFC & put it in the media that City had agreed a £75m deal with them & now just needed to agree personal terms with VVD, which panicked LFC into finally agreeing the £75m fee they refused to pay last season, to stop him going to City. Apparently City dropped out at £55m, so LFC got played in that respect. The £145m they'll get from FCB, is exactly what VVD & NK will cost them.

All in all, I think FCB have the player the badly wanted & LFC got 2 players who combined are of more use to them than just Coutinho.
