Alexis Sanchez

Let's think who profits from this story of Man U making a bid,

1 - The press/media in a big way. More to write about, talk about, more papers sold, more page impressions created.
2 - Bookies, lots of money goes on Sanchez going to United, bookies clean up. Also, many of the bookies are owned by the big media brands (Sun Bet, Sky bet etc) but I'm not saying that there is any collusion going on.....
3 - Arsenal, maybe. If they can maybe create a bidding war. Potentially.
4 - Sanchez himself/his agent/team, creates more demand = demands more wages, signing on fee etc.
5 - United - Can spin the 'went for the money' bullsh*t if he comes to us, their fans aren't as pissed off that they weren't in the race for a world class player etc etc.

Now, who profits from no story, he comes to City for a decent price without any 'competition'?

1 - City.

Same from the press every time. They have far more to gain from running the story and literally no one gives a sh*t if they get it wrong, so no downside.

Best thing about this would be that it gives us so many possibilities.

------------Sanchez
Sané--Silva--De Bruyne--Sterling

-----------------Aguero
Sanchez--Silva De Bruyne--Sterling

----------Sanchez----Jesus
Mendy--Silva--De Bruyne--Walker

-----------------Aguero
-----------------Sanchez
Silva---De Bruyne--Fernandinho--Bernardo
That is true. A very flexible player. I would not play him in any of the forward positions though unless there are injuries. I think he is a significant step below players like Sterling and Sane in being able to go past a man. When teams park the bus, players like that are absolutely vital. That's what used to make Sanchez special. He had that ability too, but it has gone. However he is still a very flexible player who would be a very useful addition to the squad because he covers so many positions. At his age, I can see him playing in a lot deeper positions than most have considered.

His first job will be to get fit. I have seen him play recently and he has only been good for 45 mins. He's probably been coasting at Arsenal this season.

I would not have bought him, but he is a very adaptable player, and I think Pep might use him as cover, or perhaps surprise us and play him in a deeper role.

sorry mate, couldn't tell you! However I feel that if that obstinate **** Wenger is suddenly admitting Sanchez could in fact leave this month then I would hazard a guess that this is very, very nearly done.

What can I say, I'm an optimist!
Only issue is that it comes with the same caveat as the end of the summer window, them signing a replacement. And we shouldn't ever underestimate Arsenal's incompetence when it comes to trying to do that. The fuckers will probably still be fucking about on January 31st trying to sign Malcolm for the change in Wenger's pockets and a bag of pork scratchings.

I think Sanchez gives us a different option. For me, Sane and Sterling do their best work in behind the opposition and it can sometimes be difficult to get in behind when the opposition sit so deep. I think Sanchez does some of his best work in front of the opposition defence. Additionally his long-range shooting is much better than Sane and Sterling.

Absolutely pal, wenger is the most incompetent dinosaur since the velociraptor who couldn't stop screaming. However I fully believe it will be taken out of his hands by the Arsenal board if it gets to the 20th and we're still waiting!
Again, optimism!!

Possibly better than Sterling's long range shooting, but sane is very good at running with the ball and shooting. An expert at free-kicks, but any better than De Bruyne? I think the Sanchez that will play at City will be a different player to the one who played at Arsenal, Barca. Up until now he's been an offensive player, but he clearly has a lot else in his locker. Pep perhaps sees him playing deeper. I don't see him adding anything unique, but he could cover a lot of roles. You need players like that in a squad. I'm happy if he ends up playing deeper and reinventing his game, but if he's been bought as an out and out forward then I can't see that working.

I'm talking about the amortised cost to us if we sign him mate. Couldn't give a shit about his value on Arsenal's books ;)
If the difference of opinion is £20m and £35m then along with the wage bill rise and signing on fee mate it could be a sticking point with this year's budget. Remember a fair few of the current squad are getting improved contracts as well.

I know you have your doubts and if we were paying his true market value for a 29 year old I would agree. I just don't think you can pass on a player of his ability for £25m. £25m gets you nothing these days unless you take a punt on a kid or someone from an unfancied league and it somehow comes off.

I just don't believe that FFP is the sticking point and instead it's standard haggling between the 2 clubs. I reckon if it gets done it will be around £30 million

Sorry but unless you are privy to all the details of City's finances and transfer deals you have no way of knowing what the situation is.

Likewise, you have no way of knowing whether FFP is an issue with regards to this transfer. In fact, I don't even know why FFP has crept into this topic to the point that people are now taking it as gospel because I can't see any official sources quoting that as the reason why we're haggling over the fee. All I can see is some bitter desperate twat over on Red Cafe saying it's an issue.

I think we are just doing what Soriano and Txiki used to do when they were at Barca. They used to find out for sure that players wanted Barca and only Barca and then low ball on the price knowing that it mattered not what other clubs offered in terms of transfer fee. I may be wrong but I seem to recall them doing exactly that when they signed Sanchez for Barca and we were offering more.
