Alexis Sanchez

Going to the rags is by definition NOT his "only option". He could STAY. That's the point. If Arsenal says "we just sold you to a side in the Ukraine for 200 MM" he doesn't have to go anywhere. Arsenal has ZERO leverage here. He and we have it ALL. But if he wants the rags there is jack shit we can do about it. If he's going to the highest bidder then you say we should pay. If that's not bending over, what is?

Seeing as his family have arrived in London, it sure looks like he is off soon. He ain't hanging about.

We all know that Sanchez is a Man City player for the taking. We have Pep, we play the beautiful football and we are on course to win trophies. Every single thing points towards Man City.

The only option Utd have of securing him is throwing a shit load of money at Sanchez and his agent. As someone has already mentioned, their transfer policy is a very scatter gun like approach, but they have to spend silly money to keep selling the Man Utd dream that they can get back to the big time like the Fergie days.

This is a player who will literally catapult us to more trophies and like I said, guarentee us the league for the next few seasons. Sometimes you have to bite the bullet to keep yourselves way ahead of the chasing pack. Barcelona and Monaco pulled PSG's pants down for Neymar and Mbappe, but would you have both players at City? I certainly would. If it wins them a Champions league then they will be laughing all the way to the bank and will prove very sound investments. They have already taken them up a level as a club this season anyway.

If we miss out on Sanchez, who do you realistically think we could get for 25-30m as good as him? There is nobody.

I guarantee you now, if City miss out on Sanchez, we won't even go in for another attacking player because we simply won't be able to afford one as well as budgeting on a CB and a CM. We will be looking at spending at least 70m on a top top player in Sanchez' position, at the bare minimum. If we do miss out on not paying the premium on Sanchez and he joins them rag bastards, we will have simply dropped as big of a clanger as when Utd nabbed RVP and Chelsea nabbed Hazard from under our noses.

This market now is ruthless, we have to grasp this Sanchez opportunity with both hands or we will end up pricing ourselves out for other players in that position.

Why does the fact that his family have come over guarentee that he is moving? Have they come to help with his packing or maybe they just might be here to watch a few games?
Either way lets get the deal done.

I wasn’t arguing about downgrading, I was pointing out your error when you said.

I simply pointed out “Pellegrini” didn’t sell De Jong, he left one whole season before he arrived. You could’ve just held your hands up and admitted your error.
You get the just of it.

I didn't mean to say that Pellegrini sold De Jong, I knew that was Mancini anyway, just worded it badly so apologies for that. I was merely pointing out that City sold better players and replaced them with inferior players and then once Pellegrini had taken over, he bought too many squad players and not top quality.

Mancini wasn't allowed to build a dynasty and was left with shite Marwood signings like Rodwell and Scott Sinclair.

I like the idea of having fresh blood, particularly in attacking positions, in this kind of situation. Just to keep everyone on their toes.

If I had the choice, in my ideal world, it would be some shock signing, 19 year old Brazillian wonderkid who can do 100 metres in 10 secs & shoot from distance with both feet, tbh, but Sanchez will do fine.

But I couldn't be less bothered if we don't sign him.

As far as any calamity which could severely cost us, I don't think it's the attack which is likely to do that, it's a couple of cb injuries & 20 games of Mangala.

I wiish we had another top cb, but that looks as if it's been put down, yet again in favour of attack (possibly due to Jesus' injury) & it would be a bit of bad luck tbf, if we couldn't muddle through with a few fill in games from Vinny & the Mangler, to keep Otta & Stones fit for the main ones.

But imo, if there was to be a problem, that would be it.

A top class forward would keep people on their toes and we do need to be more clinical. I'd take a surprise signing but Sanchez would tick so many boxes.

CB is a concern but if the rumours about Fred hold any truth, it leaves a greater option to use Dinho back there whilst still not having to over use him unless we have a severe injury crisis. I've also got more confidence in Tosin than I had. TBH, I even think there could be games down the line, if we have maintained our form, where Yaya could fill in at CB.

I can't get my head around that either....are they having a trip to Beswick tomorrow and if they don't like the view it's off?

He guarantees us fuck all.

In the summer his brother was seen touring the stadium. No guarantees but the timing would be one hell of a coincidence.

Because he couldn't resist spending money.
So rather than keep the cash & sign one top player when available he'd sign the 4th choices.

His time was up.

We would definitely have a better chance of winning the champions league and the next few leagues with him in our squad than without him.

If he went to Utd, he definitely guarentees them closing the gap on City going into next season.

He is World class.

So that means you'd be willing to pay 69.9M for Sanchez. And of course, having our ass handed to us by a leverage-less Arsenal won't at all impact what we pay for the subsequent CM and CB we need, right? Of course it will.

If he wants City, he's coming. Period. End of. If we know that's the case, why would we let Arsenal dictate terms? If that isn't true, and he is playing highest bidder, then I don't care if we get him or not, because he wouldn't be coming to win things or for Pep; he'd be coming because we paid the most. That's great, but it isn't the same.

I don't think we need another attacker as much as other positions. I'd rather overspend on what we DO need -- the CB and CM you reference, especially the CM.

Your fear is of the rags. Would you feel the same if this was Bayern chasing him or PSG? I'm not afraid of them, with or without Sanchez. They are two years behind us, minimum.

Money shouts in today's game. Did you honestly expect Neymar to sign for PSG at the start of the season? I didn't.

It isn't coming out of our pockets, why should we care? Couldn't give a shit what the total fee comes to, end of the day we will have another world class player to add to our team.

He is an absolute joy to watch, I want to be watching him at my club and not in that poisonous red shirt.

It does nothing of the sort. Your "guarantee" pronouncements are tiresome, and unprovable.

He would improve us I agree but there are no guarantees we win more league titles with him. Even if he goes to the rags, there are no guarantees they close in on us.

If signings guaranteed what some fans made out, why haven't we (or anybody else for that matter) simply wrote a cheque?

FFS PSG can win CL, and is going to always have a massive chance to win their league, plus they can pay huge.

Can you say the same for Utd?

No you can't, but with Sanchez and a couple of high level signings in the summer, you never know. They will certainly narrow the gap between us and them.

Granted, we have the best manager in the world, but the best managers don't always win the league every other season.
