Alexis Sanchez

Can they say that with a straight face? Everyone knows what Pogbad's agent made. Which is exactly why Sanchez' agent will be looking for that much off them if that article is correct. Yet some people believe we should match what they offer...

They could have bought another player with the amount of money they paid Raiola to sign Pogba.

What do agents actually do to earn major money? A good player is a good player. Other than asking lawyers to ensure that the deal is the best for the player I can't see what the agent does.
Truthfully speaking, everything. Most players never change agents. For players like Sanchez, agents are one of the most important reasons why they get to play at the top level. There's fuck load of talent in South America languishing because there's nobody to support them in the early years or get them proper contracts with good clubs. Agents manage all that - everything from the professional to the personal life of a player.

I'd like Sanchez and any quality addition to the squad will be welcome. But..... I also think £20m is a more than fair offer for a player who is out of contract in 6 months. Plus he isn't necessarily better than Aguero, Sane or Sterling. Whereas I reckon he gets straight into the rags team.

It is easy to see we are his choice but United is still an up-grade on Arsenal. CL knock out stage, FA Cup and should be a shoo in for top 4.

They seem to be looking at the player and not the contract situation and probably comparing it to how much someone else of similar quality would cost. Whilst I think our approach is correct there’s could be more effective.

I think we are in a competition with them and the worry is their need is greater then ours.

Come the end of the window I expect Sanchez to move and we will either be further ahead or they will have caught up a bit.

This whole thing does make a mockery of Mourinho’s position that United can’t compete with City financially!!

Why is it easy to see that we are his choice? If we are his choice and it was easy to see, there would be no debate would there?

If he does go to united then surely they are his choice!

Like what?

The way I see it is

1.) His family have flown to London
2.) City are nowhere near an agreement according to several reports
3.) United are much closer to an agreement according to reports

You put these 3 things together and it looks like he's moving soon with his family flying in today and them bastards being closer to an agreement than we are. City briefing the press saying they won't go higher than 20m suggests we are a long way off completing a deal.

I pray I am completely wrong.

It's hard to gauge whether City are bluffing at this stage.

Soriano has been driving this and was clearly offended by how Arsenal conducted themselves back on transfer deadline day, perhaps even making him look stupid in front of Pep and the hierarchy?

He was crystal clear in December that we would be waiting until next summer to get Sanchez on a free transfer, content in the knowledge he wants to play for Pep.

That position clearly changed, whether that be down to Jesus' injury, or just the club feeling we now stand on the precipice of a potentially historic campaign

I'm not usually one for conspiracy theories in the main, as I am privy to United's genuine interest, but what had changed for Sanchez between knowing we were prepared to wait until the summer (last week in December) and just three weeks later, his supposed insistence that he must get away from Arsenal this window, even to the detriment of a £25m pay day as a free transfer, can it really be that insufferable for him at the Emirates?

Just a theory, but there is a chance our position is orchestrated between City and Sanchez, to exact ultimate payback over Arsenal, with the added bonus of embarrassing United as the stalking horse?

The media have been briefed twice now from upstairs, both were messages that have contradicted each other, in terms of any type of deal in January.

It will be interesting to see how angered Pep would be with both the player and City if our bluff is called on the final day.

The smooze is clearly on from Mourinho, the money isn't an issue, so it still comes down to whether Sanchez doesn't hold up his end.

If united offer what Arsenal want then we will know very quickly whether Sanchez really wants to go there as it will be done quickly. If he wants us then it is the long game with Arsenal having to accept our bid to get some money in their pockets. The fact he snubs the rags too would be gold. A real kick in the teeth to them. Another one.

To sum up then, you haven't got a clue what the state of play is?

Evans doesn’t have 6 months left on his contract. It’s an entirely different situation.
He has 18 months apparently.

A point I would make is that if a player is out of contract it doesn't mean he costs nothing.

Imagine next summer, in a world where Pep is not the only option. PSG, Utd, Liverpool, Madrid et al might all be interested. OK Arsenal get nothing but how much would the winners have to pay in signing on fee, agent's fee. A lot more than 35 mill I reckon.

Sorry if this has been posted already but according to Matt Law in the Telegraph, Sanchez's agent is now asking for £10mil....

Unfortunately Sanchez's strong desire to leave Arsenal this month, if true, means he will go to United rather than his preferred move to us.

I hope we have a couple of players lined up and one is a CH.

Are cutting our nose of to spite our face?

Have to admit I'm pissed off that we have put in all this work for nothing and that's just this thread!

Why have players so little control of their agents?
