if sanchez wanted pep then he would be here already, what a load of bollocks, arsenal will decide if he his sold this window, arsenal want the best deal for themselves then sanchez can decide.

Not sure what to make of this Utd link at all. I obviously want the best deal for Arsenal, but it would almost be an insult to football if he ends up there.

I joked a few days ago about Sanchez & Ozil lining up for Utd next season, but that is an actual possibility now!

Left back and right back

Plus why would Arsenal strengthen Utd’s position in the top 4? With respect you won’t dislodge us this year or probably next, but Utd could keep drawing games and who knows blow up
next year. Makes no sense to me.

Might be wrong mate - but I'm adamant that Bayern were willing to offer more but it was the Pep appeal. It seems weird that a player would reject those two clubs to then join United who are fifteen points off us and have a rubbish manager for attacking football.

Bayern said they couldn't match his terms. Sanchez priced himself out of the move.

How would he have achieved this without Arsenal accepting a bid?
that's what people are saying, did you read what I posted ?? I was saying that was bollocks

Will anyone be seriously that arsed if he goes there? I won't. Good player yes, but by the time that lot are any near rebuilt, he'll be 33 and PEG will have gone. All for £100m+ package! In the meantime we've hopefully streaked ahead.

Oh sorry I misunderstood

Totally agree. What a turn around. Years ago we had to pay the big bucks to get players to come to join the project. The rags wouldn’t pay as much stating you should come here as it’s a privilege to play for our club and we can guarantee trophies. Now the boots on the other foot. We won’t overpay and basically saying why wouldn’t you want to join Pep and where this club is going. It’s the rags now that have to overpay to get players to their club. What a turnaround. Even Wio had to admit the balance of power has shifted. In terms of Sánchez if he goes to the rags the club will just go out and buy another player who is younger and hungrier.
The City Way.

Your dominance was making it easier for us to accept in a way. If you signed him in the summer, it could be used against us like RVP was, where we 'handed you the league.' However, going just now while you are already so dominant, makes it easier in my mind to accept.

I don' think we are playing games just now, I just think we are trying to get the best deal for Arsenal. Would selling to the devil be the best deal for us though. I personally just want him gone and a replacement/s brought in.

There is no way to spin this that if we miss out on him it isn't a major blow to the club.

Personally I was pretty ambivalent about him coming. nice if he did but not really bothered either way.
Your second sentence reflects how I've felt about this from day one.

Your first sentence however I totally disagree with. There is no way we can guarantee to sign every transfer target and with our current squad we are not exactly desperate for a 29 year old looking for a major payday and a few medals. If he wants to come fine, if he wants to go elsewhere so be it. We've passed the point where we needed to be begging players to come by offering outlandish wages, the wheel has come full circle, that's the rags tactic now.

That's just not true. City haven't pursued a player like we've pursued Alexis almost ever.

We bid for him when he left Udinese, we bid for him when he left Barcelona and we're bidding for him again. We went for him in the summer and again are going back for him in January and after that will go for him next summer if possible aswell.

Alexis turned down PSG and Bayern to play for us. He'll be a City player one way or another despite the regular flapping and hedging on here.
Fair enough. But why did we leave it til a week before the transfer window closed to put in our offer of 60 million.

Laughable how he’s transformed from an ambitious Pep disciple, who will surely clinch us the quadruple, into a grasping, menopausal whore, grafted from Ryan Giggs’s scrotum ...and all on the basis of rumours.

This thread has become red caf, Twitter, mumsnet and wetpussy.com, all rolled into one.

Ah well, as I reach for the Samaritans’ number and a jar of paracetamol, I’ll console myself with one thought: “we didn’t want him anyway”.

Unless, that is....unless....

I agree with a lot of what you say and I don't blame Sanchez for taking the money, if he does. We really have no idea what his situation is, hell he might use the extra money to open up an orphanage for all we know and I'm not saying "pay whatever" selling the club to your most converted targets at this stage shouldn't be that hard and if it is we need to look at what we are doing wrong. Again I stress I'm with you on Sanchez he would be nice but I don't see a real "need" for him (although we are dreadfully light upfront), but it would seem Pep wants him badly
What's your opinion on this. What do you think we're doing wrong?

I don't know but I get the impression that bids in the modern game are probably the last rather than first stage of a transfer now. You don't see them rejected a lot like you used to and presumably everybody knows what bid is going to be accepted before they put one in.

So maybe we were still negotiating with Arsenal the whole time but understood that it wasn't going anywhere and stuck one in as a show of interest to Sanchez?
