Alexis Sanchez

I know right, no worries as we've got about 40 academy players who will be as good as Sanchez ...
Who? Matondo, Nmecha and Diaz are the only wingers/strikers I think can be a regular starter in our first team in the future. (From U18 and U23)

Manchester City pulled out of any negotiations on Sunday night. To illustrate how tough Arsenal have been, it is understood that they did initially ask for Anthony Martial plus cash, but that was a non-starter for United. They now want £30m plus Mkhitaryan.

United are still offering the best financial package, and those close to proceedings believe that Sanchez’s attachment to Pep Guardiola has been overplayed, but there is a slight concern at Old Trafford over whether the Chilean might wish to remain in London. Chelsea made their interest known on Monday afternoon, and are willing to capitalise in any breakdown.

For anyone who missed it.

Neville is not considering the big picture here. Of course it isn't about financial muscle, it's about principles and Sanchez's demands. A player who hardly has the best statistics this season, at 29 years old, shouldn't command wages that surpasses our best players, KdB for instance.

Remember Guardiola mentioned a couple weeks back he wouldn't sign anyone to "upset the squad"? This is what he's talking about.

At the end of day, simply put, Guardiola knows Sanchez, and doesn't think he's worth the money or the trouble.

I think it’s a smart move all round by City to publicly “pull out of the race”
It tells the rest of the world, players and agents, that we won’t be held to ransom.
Sit back and see what happens.

I'm curious to see who this backup target is that Mullock mentioned a while back. Obviously I'm gutted about Alexis, but we'll certainly have a backup though I'm not sure if it'll be feasible in January with so little time remaining.

On a side note, we were told Jesus will be back in a fortnight so the need for Sanchez isn’t as great. He’s just posted a video of him beating Mendy on Fifa and still has his knee in a brace and is using crutches.

I’m no doctor but surely you can’t go from needing crutches to playing in 2 weeks can you with that injury? Even back to training in 2 weeks?

Made this point before, it will likely be a good few weeks before he is match fit. Really can’t see him being ready in 2/3 weeks.

Fk me, this isn't over yet? Even Chelsea's getting in on this.

Whilst I am sure the rags wanted him this all smacks of the small mans mind games as well. Beat us to Sanchez cast some doubt in the clubs/Peps mind so predictable. So really pleased that Conte has also joined in the mind games now let’s see what happens.

Still over a couple of weeks left. Personally I'd rather wait until the Summer unless we can get the right player in.

Here we go never really wanted to play for Pep. He has had posters of the little man on his walls for years.

I suspect Jesus will be out for much longer than this and 2/3 weeks was used as leverage with any Sanchez negations.

If we don't get anyone in up top in this window it will be interesting to see how we line up. Sterling/Silva used in the middle maybe?

This gets better and better,I hope this is true would love nothing more than to see them scum rag bastards miss out after all the bollocks they are prepared to pay and their shitehawk fans getting giddy at the thought of getting one over us the wa***rs..
After the doughnut thief transfer issues I'm sure Madrid would love to fuck the rags over.

Gutted about this. I understand the clubs decision but we have failed twice with transfer most of us though were in the bag. Before everyone starts jumping on me, I don't believe we should have paid him 350k a week either considering our top earner is probably on 200k. Can't trust a players word after this and Alves.

That said the Rags are fucking up the wage structure with this deal. Top players will want atleast as much as this to come here. I don't think we, as a club believe in this new wage/fee structures. Its not about us not affording them, its about us not wanting to pay them. We are becoming a bit like Chelsea have recently in that sense. Rags have lost it and will pay the highest wages and fees to any player they want.

There was a time we paid over the odds, but we don't now and the Rags do it now. I don't mind being second best at paying fees/wages, since I still believe there is a lot of value in players who are 100 million or on 350k per week.

Think we have done the right thing if a players word means nothing how can you trust him. His wife refused to go to Liverpool when he signed for Arsenal if Chelsea are serious she could well come into play again. Good player would have given us strength in depth but not improved the first 11.

The problem is that if this deal goes through and he is paid 350k per week then that will become an obtainable rate for a top player and we will have to pay it anyway.

Everyone thought Pogba was expensive until the Naymar deal went through. Now £150m becomes the top rate.

Also, it's a £100m deal all in. If he had 3 years on his contract it would still be a £100m deal. As it stands he's just getting it in wages instead of a transfer fee. I don't really get the sense in pulling out of a player we really need just because we can't get him on the cheap.

Your previous post which slags off Sergio Sterling and Sane makes any other posts from you completely meaningless. I would call you a brainless fuckwit if it wasn’t against the code of conduct

Lol.

Sorry but I have to didagree. To score he relies on service. There was not enough service to score his career average of around 1 in 3. Others were far worse.

He won't play for the team which is his biggest problem, in that i mean he'll hang on to the ball for too long when others are better options, 2 cases in point from Saturday, early second half KDB in space at the edge of the box, shoots instead. Last 2 minutes, shoots instead of working the ball into the box when they're on the ropes. World class player but really doesn't fit into what we're trying to do at times. It's just not his natural game and it's a shame. Tevez would be fucking thriving in his prime here now.

Disagree all you want, Aguero played for himself, as he often does, and he went missing completely when we went behind the second time.

Anyway this thread is about Sanchez, so let leave the Aguero discussion for his performance thread, where I don't think I'm alone in my view.

Nail on head.

Sanchez’s agent wants him to be the highest paid player at the club?! Er, excuse me, am I reading that right? This, for a player who would spend at least some of his time on the bench?
It’s not a question of the transfer fee, it’s not a question of what Sanchez would bring to the team (a lot). City are completely right to walk away. I regret that we’re not getting him, finally, but that demand is completely out of order, if true.
Nothing more to see here. Let’s move on.

In that case you might regret if we did get him and the highest player at the club turned out to be a flop for us.
