True I was buzzing to sign him but that’s because he reminds me so much of Marcelo Salas who we missed out on signing a long time ago when I was a young one. I was gutted at the time.

Apart from Sanchez is coming towards the end of his career. Salas was coming into his prime.

Just remembered that Sanchez/agent was asking for outlandish money in the summer from PSG and Bayern, somewhere around 300k per week. I think everyone thought he was doing this knowing it was not acceptable to those teams, thus leaving him free to come to us at 200+ per week in January or the summer. Now it's 500k, a ridiculous amount for a player of his stature, he is no Ronaldo or Messi, and I think the rags have been well and truly mugged.
I have no doubt he will improve the rags but can he suddenly up his game? He's been pretty average so far this season, I'm sure the Arsenal fans will be even more pissed off if he does (not that it will bother him).

There will be the usual fanfare if/when he signs but he has basically been able to mug them because they are so desperate. A strange way to start a relationship with one's new employer.

If you read the article in depth, it says Utd are paying around 250k a week after tax, so that works out to around 500k a week before tax.

I am glad we walked away and fucked him off. That is absolutely bonkers.

One thing has become very clear - Sanchez did not price himself out of a move to PSG and Bayern. He really was serious about the 400k/w he demanded.

Sneaky fuckers trying to get it under the radar with after tax figures. They seem to get help from the press keeping their figures under wraps where as the highest possible rumour is the one they like best for City, with bonuses added in, sometimes even all the wages for the full length of the contract, "in a deal worth".

It's very strange because there is no chance in hell City would pay anything like that amount. Yet he was coming to City.

Perhaps he was taking the piss in summer, asking for stupid money in order to force a move to City, assuming nobody would ever pay it, but Raiola came up with this plan re Mick O Terryan & they found there is a club dumb & desperate enough to actually say 'yes' & are laughing all the way to the bank.

You have to admit he and his agent have played a blinder in this whole thing by luck or judgement he has to be going to make twice what he expected

If it happens.

If it doesn't, he can't go to Utd, Bayern, City in the summer.

Chelsea maybe ?

Unless the gentleman's agreement he had with City in the summer, allows him to ask for pisstake money from others & sign for us if he doesn't get it.

In which case he would still be in our sights if the rag deal fell through.

I imagine, to be fair, that most if not all reported wages for Premier League players are after tax.

Total wage bills don't make complete sense otherwise tbf. The rags would have everyone believe that 25 players on an average of 5m a season equates to a 260m annual wage bill.
