Alexis Sanchez

I tweeted yesterday about offering £65 million - take it or leave it, which i think is generous in itself for someone turning 29.

going to be a question of who is gonna blink first.

50 to 60 mil is crazy enough for someone who could walk for free next year.

I hope we don't end up paying 75 mil.

He i such needed though as we can't seem to finish the chances we create.

We have too many similar players in KDB, Silva, Bernando S. We need something different and Sanchez is the answer.

Players and agents aren't stupid when it comes to money. His "free" next year will have that factored into his signing on fee and wages anyway.

Does the actual fee get published anywhere other than the media?
I could see us agreeing 60m but then arsenal saying let's tell the press 70m do the fans don't go mad as much. City would agree to get it over the line as it wouldn't matter to us

As long as a club we adhere to any financial regulations imposed on us I couldn't care less how much we spend - it's not my money (especially since my seasoncard is 0.0009% of the alleged £70 million required to sign him, not including his wages!).

£50m for a player of his age and free to agree to move elsewhere in Jan is a great offer and if they're not willing to take it then we should just let them see this through to its embarrassing conclusion.

Sanchez would be a brilliant signing but if we can't get him then i think a manager of Pep's reputation still ought to be able to mount a title challenge with the players he already has available. It's the best attacking line up in the league.

If we were to give them Sterling plus cash then we'd be doing them a massive favour in my opinion. We fill a hole in their squad plus give them some cash towards improving further.

Let them lose Chamberlain, Ozil and Sanchez for nothing next season and then have to spend £200m to simply stand still. I don't think Sanchez can restore them into the top four this season and to lose so many valuable players at once next year could put them out of the picture for even longer. We'd be daft to give them Sterling.

I'm not sure the 'we'll get him for nothing next summer" concept is sensible. Lot's can change between now and then and he could, and that's if he still came, be last year's solution to next year's problem.

On the subject of cash or player swap/px, how much do we really believe Sterling is worth? And what I mean by that, is not what we'd like but how much we would for sure receive assuming we could find another club who would want him? For me, and regardless of his recent goals, Sterling has never overly impressed me as much as he's frustrated me! I think Pep also feels similar and the exasperation on his face when Sterling ran the ball out of play at Bournemouth summer it up perfectly. In all honesty, I just don't see Sterling improving as either a finisher nor a creator of chances.

If we can sort a straight swap or even Sterling and a few quid or even another misfit with him then it's a good deal for me.
He is 7 years younger and was one of our best players last season, no one knows just how good sterling can become in 5 years he could be playing at a higher level then Sanchez. Sterling could easily be a first team player for 10 years Sanchez maybe 3 would insane.

I dont think we will ever know the "real" fee due to complexity of financing required. There are lots of fees, add-ons etc that makes it hard to grasp the real fee once the dust has settled.

It can't be about finishing chances. He's never been that prolific before last season. I remember Yaya getting 20 plus goals once. If all we wanted were finishers he'd have kept Nacho.
