Aymeric Laporte

He reminds me a lot of Stones. The first thing that always remember about him is that somebody once pointed out that he has an odd stride length when running. I don't know if that's even true but it's always the first thing that comes to mind. Giggs level of one footed makes him a bit predictable on the ball at time. Got a mistake in him though Otamendi type mistakes than Mangala type mistakes. Decent sized lad but doesn't use it properly, wouldn't fancy him against a big bruiser.

He's good though, reads counter attacks well, nice left foot, likes a tackle. Got the Boateng long ball and those little dinks when carrying the ball in him. He's more of a work in progress than what I'd call the finished product but he only needs the odd screw tightening. Pep will make him world class, don't worry. He obviously fancies him and there will be good reasons for that.

Any pace?

If the selling club is uncooperative than yes, the player has to pay the clause themselves in full up front. If the selling club doesn't mind, then you're right, the clubs just accept a transfer fee for the value.

I would not be surprised if Bilbao were in the uncooperative category, particularly as they need the cash up front if they're going to take Inigo Martinez from Sociedad to replace him.
Right, which is why Neymar delivered the check himself. The change definitely reduced the leverage of the selling club but it's still possible to drag things out, as Bilbao probably are doing. I'm assuming thats where that 4mm "development fee" or whatever they were calling it we were rumored to be paying comes from.

The development fee you mention did seem strange given it was on top of the buy out fee. But it must be a a gesture of goodwill to get this pushed through. To grease the wheels if you like rather than have a debate over tax or whatever else it might be. They are notoriously difficult to deal with and no doubt our Spanish mafia know this.

I’m somewhat surprised we didn’t challenge Liverpool for Van Dijk’s signature if it’s true we are willing to meet Laporte’s £57m release clause.

Aside from snippets on youtube, has anyone on here seen him play?

We just got a player who is 3 years younger 18 million cheaper and ultimately a better player/fit than VVD.

To be fair “a better player” is to be proven yet.
maybe I just don’t see what others do about vvd, I think he’s over rated. Laporte is 3 years younger and has wonderful composure on the ball from the limited times I’ve watched athletic play

Nope. He has been playing first team football for years. He is a better player and a better fit IMO. Better player in England? Perhaps we need to still wait and see about that...

It's during the closing moments of an inevitable transfer that you can tell who the cockwombles on twitter replying to everything with "Announce 'x'" are.

Yeah, it’s ONLY £18 million difference, which will cover most of the transfer fee for Fred.

Two for the price of one (and @ bit).

van dick over priced ....sanchez over priced ....i am waiting for the media gangsters to admit city are doing it the right way,
