all indications we were allocating resources for a central midfielder. I'm not sure it's necessary to buy a 70m player to cover for a 6-7 week injury.
But we started January trying to bring in Sanchez, that was before Sane got injured so it wouldn't be to cover just for 6 or 7 weeks. We would have bought a cb, c.m and wide attacking player over this and the next window either way, all Sane 's injury might have done is change the priorities for this window and the next.

Trying to sign player at this stage of the window on the back of an injury to a key player with so much silverware at stake will be interpreted by many selling clubs as a desperate situation

They might maybe, but if we were that desperate, we would have moved on him before Sané was injured, as Pep has already said we will get injuries.

I recon we have just seen an opportunity to get one of our potential options on the summer list, in early.

As Pep says he bought Laporte 6 months earlier than he wanted to maybe with the talk of FFP 2.0 hes getting all our business done early

Neither do I and I expect the club aren't that stupid either, which leads me to draw the conclusion that the plan has always been to sign a winger (as proven by our interest in Sanchez). It's not a stretch to believe that something like this was earmarked for the Summer and a decision has been made to bring it forward in light of what has happened. So maybe the injury has led us to accelerate things slightly, but i doubt our whole transfer strategy has changed or anything else we felt was needed has been binned off to make way for this. We seem to be run pretty well these days, we set our limits and stick to them and often do our business quietly. It probably isn't quite the attempted panic buy people think it is.

The question no one has asked??? What if Mahrez looks just as improved for City as Iheanacho did?
