Breaking records/stats thread

Apart from the obvious ones there's a few others which are quite interesting

Biggest winning margin - 18 points (would be particularly nice to take this one of the rags)
Most away wins in a season - 15 - currently on 10 so 5 out of 7 remaining, a challenge but possible
Most home goals - 68 - currently on 45 so need 24 in 6 games, tough
Most away goals - 48 - currently on 28 so need 21 in 7 games, tricky but possible
Most assists in season - 20 - Kev on 11 so hard one this but you never know!

The most impressive record to beat, even more so than remaining undefeated, would be beating 95 points.

I think the reason we might not is that we could win the league too early and rest players.
To be honest, the way we're being kicked at the moment, I'll be happy to win the league with none of the records broken!

100 points would be very tough. Would mean only dropping another 7 points. 3 draws or 2 draws and a loss.

Goal difference record should happen.

Also we have now won 22 league games. 8 more to match the record.

We're +55 with 13 games to play, a strong end to the season should see us break that one.
13 games to play and need +16. That’s only winning every game by at least 1 goal (kind of required to win!) and 3 of those games by 2. One defeat by 2 or more, though, and it becomes doubtful. If we wrap it up early, players will be rested in key pre/post-Cup games, though, so I could see a drop off AFTER winning the League, should that happen.

We're +55 after 25 games for an average of +2.2 per game and need an average of +1.31 per game for the rest of the season so we've a bit of margin for error. Staying in the FA Cup and Champions League could actually help with this one as Guardiola will want to keep the intensity high in the league games to keep us sharp for those competitions.

If we stay in everything, we will be playing every few days for the rest of the season, as no weekends left open for FA Cup and CL is already midweek. FA Cup replays would be even more onerous. We may see a case of a Sat, Tues, Fri, Mon type 9 day stretch if we stay in everything!!!

Certainly doable, but strange things happen as March turns to April, then May, and players don’t get fresher!

Just curious as to what is the earliest that any team has qualified for the CL, the magic number used to be 70 and we are already on 68. I'm gonna guess that at the end of the season we will look back and realise we actually secured qualification in February.

Totally agree, last night I was almost pleading with the players not to attack, who was bothered about another goal, just finish the match uninjured...........and that was before the Diaz asault.

No replays as long as we don't draw with Wigan.

What’s the earliest the league has been mathematically confirmed won? Could we do that? Hope so! I just want it done so no one gets crippled and we can concentrate on CL.

I still maintain we’ll do it on bloody 12 March, instead of 10 March when I was supposed to watch City at Bet365 (but will instead be flying out of Manchester that Monday).

Sky are bastards.

Possible but unlikely.
City have to win all 5 matches up to and including Stoke while at the same time:

rags lose 3 of their 5 games
Chelsea and Liverpool each lose 2 of their 5
Spurs lose 1 and draw 1 of their 5.

I've assumed that our goal difference is unassailable.

I do agree that Sky are bastards as my intended trip to Stoke may also be scuppered by the fixture change.

Sky are bastards of that there is no doubt, however 12 March is my birthday so that would be the best present ever.
