Towns with the weirdest people

In fairness, there are some utter cunts in Manchester. The scallies I grew up around were proud of their own ignorance and then you have the likes of Dale Cregan or the gang warfare of Moss Side over the years.

Market Street must be the worst major high street in any city in the country.

I work in a high rise office building just off it and walk down every day for lunch, the place is full of utter degenerates.

the railway on london road. i lived there when the bedford was still open in the mid 80s. one on corner opposite where spoons is now.

I also lived there in the mid 80's...in Elmer. Small world. Where's the Spoons? Old Sainsbury's building? Hardly used to drink in town but the Wheatcheaf became a sort of local. Up near the football ground. We used to do Sheiks on occasion but usually preferred to stay in the Elmer or pop along to The Thatch/ Old Barn in Felpham.

i worked on the ladbrokes camp there. went sheiks on the pier as well- still a club i think but not been there for years. if you like your music do you remember the irish bloke who had the shop by hotham park?

That actually made me laugh, a lot.

It IS a weird place, it's like God's waiting room for one, but, having worked over there previously, it's just an abnormal place, it's like they are ten years behind the mainland, no new cars, fashion (what little there is) is 10-20 years off the pace too.

The lads I worked with were ok tho, except for those over 50, they were just strange, extremely strange.

We've got friends who moved on to the island a few years ago, and now they go round wearing flares - i mean proper 70's style. They also bought a VW camper van but for some reason only go to campsites on the island. I'd be surprised if their kids even know the rest of the UK exists. It does some weird kind of shit to people that island. Avoid.

Record shop opposite Edward Bryant school? Used to pop in there whilst waiting for the missus to finish (she was a trainee teacher there). It was that stuffed you couldn't get the vinyl out of the racks sometimes.

Once went Sinclair C5 racing in Hotham Park. Got chucked out when me and a mate crashed into each other.

Same here. Met the missus there and got married in Felpham church. Most of my late teens to early 30's were spent around the area. My Dad part owned a welding company in Littlehampton, I worked there for a while. We lived in Elmer and after getting married moved to Chichester. Sadly all ties with the area died when my Mum and step dad passed away in the last 2 years but we still pop down that way now and then for a weekend stay. 2 rather good vinyl shops in Chichester mean I have to pop in now and then!

helter skelter records i assume- crammed in there but again some good stuff. is the other in the arcade almost opposite then?

Stayed there when City played pre-season against Wolfsburg. A very strange place indeed

Yup.

Know Harry at Time Machine in the arcade really well now. When I'm down we usually go for a beer after he shuts up shop. Lovely bloke. The one over the road, Helter Skelter, is more of a pile them in sell them cheap but he does have some good stuff from time to time.

There is supposed to be one opening up on South Street but I'm not sure how far down. We are still sorting out the will/ probate and have property to sell so will be down again soon so I'll check it out.

Just down the coast in sunny Worthing there is a record shop called music mania run by a city fan. Worth a browse if you get a chance.
