Honest question about City, which I'm sure has been asked/answered countless of times over the years:

Why did ADUG decide to acquire Manchester City out of all possible clubs in England? Wouldn't Aston Villa or Leeds United make more sense based on market/potential fan base?

Also.

Also the fact that Manchester United are recognisable worldwide. I think they hoped people wouldn’t notice the one word difference.
I'm sure this has been quoted a couple of times already but, hey! It's triggered me. If any of you cockney redcafe bellends are reading this could you please pass this answer on (They wouldn't let me register)
1. They pinpointed a couple of potential acquisitions. Newcastle and I believe Liverpool were the others. They settled on City partly because of previous dealings with the previous owner, Little Frank.
2. What makes you believe Leeds or Villa are more marketable?

3. I'm sure you amused yourself with the worldwide recognition "joke" now wipe up your dribble as you contemplate this: City are the star of the show now The Manchester derby in 2011/12 season was the most watched game because people wanted to see CITY. United are now known as the old team, an ousted despot, a sad old relic taking that lonely walk back to the pavillion and only recognized as a joke. You know this is true and the ribbons are already being tied to the premier league trophy.
Has anyone kept a count of his (Pogba) different haircuts?

Just read an article claiming Utd Officials admitted their regret at signing Alexis Sanchez for various reasons. Looking at Pogba's and Sanchez's performances do you think we dodged two bullets there or are their performances down to how Mourinho plays them. My personal opinion is apart from a couple of performances by Pogba he has greatly underwhelmed me. Would Pep have extracted better form from the pair of them?

Pogba was carried by Pirlo and is not the player that people thought he was, I also get the impression that his heart isn't really in it.

Sanchez is an excellent player but his best days are behind him and he will only go downhill.

So for me neither will be seen as a great loss.

I suspect the rags main regret will be the financial outlay they are now committed to.

Is the tierd old “oil money” phrase doing anyone else’s tits in? What difference does it make what product our owners sell to invest into their football club? Completely stupid with racist undertones imho
In fact we receive no oil money at all because our owner has trebled his money following the Chinese investment. This has been achieved while we have been building homes and creating thousands of jobs in Manchester. Our revenue comes from TV money, gate receipts, and sponsorship (none of which comes from oil firms). Still as they say don't let the truth get in the way of fake news!

I think Marvin might have been right about the decline of Sanchez. Funny, he was insulted to no end and called a wum for holding that opinion.

It's hard to say if playing for Mourihno has a dampening effect. It probably does. But my sense is Sanchez would have eventually declined. If not this season, then in the next 1 or 2.

Thus the question always was whether he was worth that 1 or 2 year stop gap. At 60 million, I thought absolutely not, but at 25 million? Perhaps!

Pogba is in a Mourinho induced funk. But he is not helping either. I'd say I was always ok with not getting Sanchez, but Pogba I really wanted. Thought he and Debryune could become something special.

Didn't rally watch Juventus much even when we were rumoured to be in for Pogba. Was really excited when we were in for him but looking at his performances it's a big no from me. Sanchez i'm surprised at as I thought he would be a better bet. Maybe he's having regrets himself over where he chose to play.

don't agree. both would be brilliant additions to our squad. Jose is the problem. I didn't want Sanchez but only because of the harmony in our squad, I reckon would have sorted that no mither.

Personally I`ve no regrets that they pissed off elsewhere to bank loads o money.
Give me players likes of Merlin,KDB,Vinny,Sergio who are driven more by possible football achievements than hard cash.

This.

I am happy to admit that I would have liked both Carlton and the mercenary at Etihad, though I hardly saw anything of Pogba at Juventus; I was merely basing my opinion on what others Bluemooners had said about him.

But, having seen both since their arrival at the bus depot, I’m delighted that neither is playing for the only team in Manchester.

I'm not even sure he's a Pep kinda player, so was a bit surprised we were even linked(or were we?)

@mostonbluemark Anybody who watched Pogba play in the CL final against Barcelona as well as France in the Euros knows that we dodged a MAJOR bullet with him. I also bought into the hype and wanted him due to youtube and Juve highlights, then I actually watched him and was in shock really. He was a ghost in the CL final and was bad at Euros where he was even benched one game. He would do better under Pep if he worked harder off the ball but overall he is lacking in many areas and will never be world class.

On Sanchez, I think he could of been great for us. Would have been rotated in and out of the team and kept Sane and Sterling on their toes. I thought he would turn the corner after he got his move but something is wrong, its still early to judge but maybe Marvin was right and Alexis has been in decline this season and won't recover last season's form, entirely possible given how many games he played in recent years with virtually no summer rest, still early but possibly dodged a major bullet there as well.

Would rather have owners selling oil than owners funding Trump... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Just wanted to apologise for my earlier rant towards the Mods, could and should have handled the issue better. Long trousers on in future, thanks FI.

The application and probably other aspects are not there, well to Pep's standards. Nor has he ever shown that in his career. I do not think we were ever interested at all. In fact i am only really hearing about it now and doubt we would ever be interested.

Because I hung about at the hospital for nearly a year waiting for carlton I now have bad cat aids so he can go fuck himself

More shite from the BBC.....
A piece about the possible winter break on their website. So why a picture of the swamp with the tout, piss head and back heel King?

The Premier League has never had a scheduled winter break
Talks to introduce a winter break from February 2020 are continuing between The Football Association, English Football League and Premier League.

The first annual two-week interval would be scheduled from the 2019-20 season and take place in the early part of the month, it has been proposed.

Same situation with myself...bought into all the hype about him that summer, like you said bullets dodged
