Breaking records/stats thread

Gundogan touched the ball more times in a single game today than any other player in the history of the PL

18/27 points needed to set a new points record (96)

Very confident we'll do it now.

I've always considered 100 points in England to be impossible. Firstly, you have to win enough matches in the first 30 matches to even contemplate it. Too many draws and it's not possible. Secondly, the last 6 or 7 matches are meaningless, you've already won the league and attention has shifted to the Champions League. More squad rotation, intensity will drop and players will duck out of 50-50s in the PL for fear of injury. So when you think about even though we're played 29 matches we're not even halfway there in terms of 100 points because of CL involvement. If we do get 100 points I will be staggered and it will rank up there as one of the greatest league achievements in this country.

You're not wrong. Bring it on City !

2 more this week , it was the first time arselona had ever been losing 3-0 at thalf time , and its the first time chelsea had ever gone a first half without having an attempt on goal .....obviously these records were when football began in 1992 or since opta collected stats

Four more
Those two, plus since opta stats began, most team passes completed and most by an individual player (Gundogan)

If we do it I don’t think it’ll ever be done again.

What's most impressive about our demolition of the league is that this is probably one of the toughest Premier League's there's ever been. 5 English teams qualified for the last 16 of the Champions League, 4 of them topping their group. Teams in and around the relegation zone are spending £20Million+ on players. Much, much harder to dominate now than the 90s whe, more often than not, it was a two team battle for the league.

It will be the greatest achievement for me, greater even than going unbeaten. To achieve 100 points requires a minimum of 31 wins (for comparison Arsenal achieved 26 wins in 03/04) and there's no bigger indicator of achieving total dominance over the league than that, you have to be on it and playing to win every week never settling for a draw or erring on the side of caution. Even in the one game we lost we nearly snatched a draw at the end. If we manage it I can't see it being beaten for a long, long time other than by Pep himself

Also today was the most passes complsted (902) by any team in a game in Opta Stats history.

I don't remember Chelsea having a shot on target, so, if correct, are we the first team to prevent the reigning league/premier league champions from having a shot on target?

Chelsea hold the record Premier league record with 30 wins , when they didnt have Champs league games , if we beat that record it is even more astounding when considering we also have Champs league commitments , we havent had the luxury of one game a week for long periods of the season like Chelsea did.
