I don’t think he will lose his job, as Sky didn’t sack Paul Merson or Kirsty Gallagher for drink driving, which is surely a more serious offence.

Kirsty is fit though and i can at least understand her. Merson is only on a part of some care in the community work. Carragher shouldn't be sacked though for this. The driver should be fucking banned though, it's one thing driving and using your phone in a conversation, but filming on it should be classed as much more serious imo.

I think it's like this; if you punch me, and I punch you back - I'm allowed. If you spit at me, and I punch you for it, I'm somehow in the wrong for 'throwing the first punch', despit you instigating.

Untrue, spitting at someone would be battery under the Criminal Justice act and would be held to be sufficient provocation to the same extent as a punch was (a punch isn't always good enough reason)- if there was reasonable grounds to believe it would be followed up with further assault or battery you'd be well within your rights to protect your person, however, if the offender has turned their back and is walking away, you're in no position to feel under threat and throwing a punch will be considered assault regardless of whether they've spat at you or punched you.
