Must see documentaries..

Deep Water (2006)

About the £5000 competition for sailing around the world in 1968. It centres on one man, Donald Crowhurst, who is described as a 'weekend sailor' at best. Very sad.. after 10 months of solitude on his shitty leaking yacht, racked with shame and failure, with no way out, he starts to philosophize.

"The explanation of our troubles is that
cosmic beings are playing games with us.
During his lifetime
each man played cosmic chess against the
devil.
God is playing one set of rules
and the devil with the other exactly
opposite set of rules.
The shameful
secret of God, the trick, he used.. because the
truth would hurt too much, is that there
is no good or evil. Only truth."

Jim And Andy very good on Netflix I think after watching this and the death of his girlfriend you can see why Carrey has lost the plot, seems a very highly strung individual

A few good ones on Netflix,
-LA92 about the race riots in LA
-Command & Control about accidents with nuclear weapons during the cold war

Filmed in M/c Stockport and liverpool (the fat bird telling the budgie in the fire joke could well have been related to george roper) mid '50's...Denis Mitchel also produced 'Night on the streets' filmed throughout the night in m/c city centre but alas it's not readily available to view
