City & FFP | 2020/21 Accounts released | Revenues of £569.8m, £2.4m profit (p 2395)

Oh the fuckin irony.

I remember watching all the private planes flying in for the all Italian ECL final in our very own city not so long ago.

Not out fault your football is on it’s arse.

I don't understand his statement.
Seems like they're bringing forward FFP assessments for anyone spending over 100m in a season to ensure they're not breaching the existing regs (as PSG may have done this season) instead of introducing a hard cap on spend.

So as long as you can afford more than £100m it isn't an issue, other than they'll want to look at your books sooner than they would have?

It's a bit nonsensical really, if they're doing that, they'll essentially be examining a club on 2 years of accounts and a budget for the 3rd year, budgets are nothing more than guesswork and wishful thinking. You can't do that and apply a concrete number for loss limits. If City think they're going to fail by half a million on the budget they'll revise the budget by a couple of million, same goes for any other club.

It means the likes of corrupt ****s like Gill can be constantly monitoring the accounts of his competitors, seems a totally fair business practice

Not only monitoring but reporting back to his (cough) friends about how certain clubs (cough) City get their money and where they get it from. Bent is the word I am thinking of at the moment.

Juventus president Andrea Agnelli spoke to a number of modifications coming to football across Europe. Agnelli, who is also the president of the European Club Association, gave the remarks at a press conference held by the ECA in Rome <...> FFP? There is a great collaboration with UEFA, we came to new agreements for the rules for FFP. If a club goes outside of the rules, they will be investigated." Anderlecht's director added: "In a season you may spend a maximum of €100m, if you go above this amount UEFA will be allowed to oversee the financials of the club to verify that they are in accordance with the rules. It will allow for a more timely verification with is good for everyone."

Good luck catching up to us with a €100m limit United.

To me that reads like a way for them to interfere with a club's recruitment process by slowing it down. So if you buy two players or one expensive one, unless you are Real or Barca they'll put the breaks on and take their sweet time "overseeing the financials", result = Certain clubs *cough*City*cough* not able to close any further deals until they give the go ahead.

Wouldn't work like that. In practice it would allow them to discourage clubs from recklessly gambling on new signings boosting income by immediately placing them under sanction, interfering with an individual deal's completion would be in violation of freedom of movement and labour.

We'll see, remember how they pitched FFP to us? There's reason to be cynical.

anyone can read our accounts, it's hardly privileged knowledge.

but thats the point isnt it.
its not just accounts from the past,it includes plans and forecasts for the coming year.
So Gill passes the info onto his friends at Old Toilet and suddenly they know our transfer budget for the coming year. Think that would hand them an unfair advantage in the coming year.
Add in that the forecast would include proposed future sponsorship, including who the sponsor is so the UEFA can apply their bollocks fair market test. Thats more sensitive commercial information in the hands of our direct competitor, if Gill decides to pass that on to old toilet as well.

Hands up who thinks Gill will pass on the information to United?

it stinks to high hell again and uefa and its FFP show its ugly face in trying to stop rich owners buying into football and let debt ridden clubs play no rule's football. when i look at the list of debt ridden clubs its shocking how uefa is letting them play in there competitions and spend whatever they like on who they like even PSG who bent the rules in loaning a player that was valued at £170million by its selling club and that was after buying neymar for £200million ?????

here is the list
https://www.totalsportek.com/football/clubs-with-the-most-debt/

manchester ctiy should spend whatever they like and take uefa to court if they try to stop us how can uefa defend itself when clubs are taking the piss out of manchester ctiy when the so called biggest clubs are running up huge debts every season with no intent to clear them and uefa clearly never questioned about it

It’s there competition you get invited to so they can make what ever rules up as they want legally.

Untrue. Their rules still have to be fit for the purpose of sporting competition and be applied correctly and fairly across the board as well as being in tandem with EU employment and commercial law. This isn't the NFL and the USA.
