Had the misfortune to be lumbered with a rag this morning who insists that there are swathes of unsold seats for the dipper game and we can't sell it out, I told him that I can't get two seats together in the ground and also showed him the seat map on the official site but wouldn't accept it. If you throw enough shit it sticks and it seems to be the case with our attendances and the rag media.

And how many seats have the rags sold for their C/L game?
Oops, sorry, I forgot, they're not in it anymore
Hahahahahaha.

Does anyone know the Argentina v Spain final score?
Correct and going to prison can also have a similar effect....footballers nowadays are involved with clubs from very early ages as young as 6 in some instances and by the time they reach there 30s have been involved in the game for going on 30 years....even when young they give up so much and train and play up to 5 times a week they then become full time professionals if lucky and good enough and the routine becomes even more of a routine....it doesn’t surprise me at all that some become what you would call institutionalised....its similar to prison and the armed forces as they go through the same process day in day out and know or focus on nothing else they have to or they will be left behind....obviously with the added bonus of a shit load of cash for some but even that’s not the case for all

Hahaha

The same can also be said for those members of the armed forces.

I had the exact same conversation with an Everton fan the other week.
He was totally convinced we never fill our stadium and there was no changing
his mind.

Like it or not the propaganda / brainwashing works.

There is now a thread on Ragcafe where it shows a report from the Sun newspaper that there is on average an 8k difference in the police quoted attendance compared to the club figures. The home game against Southampton they state a 15k difference.

So basically they are saying that one out of every 7 seats is empty, it's easy to go on youtube and look at some of the matches and it clearly isn't the case, Sure either side of half time people start to disappear and the same a few minutes before the games end but seriously they lap this up.

A cynic might say that Liverpool start lying about us not being able to sell out the second leg and the Sun who are hated on Merseyside publish something that massages their ego.

We also used on this forum the piece from the MEN that showed figures from GMP, that United had been showing worse figures on actually attendees where in some cases 20+ thousand difference. The figures collated were for H & S reasons, confirming that the Rags were cooking the books.
Didn`t a certain Mr.Swales do this on a regular occurrence at Maine Road.47,000 against Charlton at home when we won 5-1 to gat promotion. My arse it was.More like 64000 !!!

I have a theory on a way in which the media drip feed the general public ;
Probably the biggest group of football interested newspaper readers are force fed small blocks of information that can be digested very easily, for example if they mention Manchester City then the point of discussion is not filling their ground, for the Scum,it’s heresy to suggest they are not quite as relevant as they were when Slur Alex was running their show and agenda so they pander to their readership and couch their demise in words that blow smoke up Fergies arse and hint that Mourinho will bring the glory days back.It is highly manipulated and designed to keep their interest and support going, what’s that quote that says tell people what they want to hear and you keep them onside ?

You really took the time to do that? Really? Clicked on the official site and then went through the various machinations, just to show you can't get two seats together? Did you then say "ner, ner na ner ner"? Much simpler to just nod and say, "yep, you're right."

The police must count the empty seats after the 85th minute!

Actually not sure how the GMP arrive at those figures but surely using the 360 deg stadium photo must be the most accurate or am I missing something here?
