The Boxing thread

Don't wanna be miserable after that perfect performance today but that's the kind of ref that we'll get in the Champions League that will see us get knocked out...hate jobsworth cunts like that who wanna be the centre of attention

Not what the fans want to see but it was an excellent performance from AJ. Tactically brilliant, not sure I remember Parker hitting AJ in the face with one clear punch to the face? Did some good body work but those jabs down the pipe killed him. They all reckon Parker should have done more but those jabs are gonna hurt and wear you down eventually. Sure if AJ needed to he could have gone all in for the knock out in the last few rounds but the way the fight was going it wasn't necessary.

As for the ref, he fucked it in the end but at first Parker was throwing himself in head first and he caught Joshua a couple of times so the ref cut it out. In the end he went overkill.

Also think this was a bit of a statement from AJ that he is a proper boxer and that he can go 12 rounds.

Shocking performance from the ref
Ruined the fight. The way he reffed it made sure Parker had zero chance to win that fight. Used to think AJ would beat Wilder but after that I think Wilder would KO him. AJ doesn't cope with movement well and without his height and reach advantage I think he'd be a sitting duck.

Yep if Fury did that(wasn't even close really and he's in there with a world champion) he would be getting a lot more credit but AJ is in the tricky position of being known for knocking people out and anything short of that will be met with criticism. Suppose he can't have it all, he does well off the casual boxing fans financially so he'll have to take the rough with the smooth.

The ref didn't help but I think it's that old cliche of styles make fights and they just didn't gel.

I still think AJ beats Wilder, who I still view as dangerous because of his power but he's a poor boxer in comparison to AJ. Even a leaner AJ would physically dominate Wilder and his wiry frame, which I expect to be part of the tactics and if he tires against AJ it's lights out time for Wilder, he wont be able to keep him at bay. Also if AJ has him hurt or down, he wont be let off the hook because AJ picks his punches to devastating effect when he has someone hurt.

Not so sure mate,I thought AJ come of age tonight,he showed he can box,I saw a bit of the old Lennox there tonight well done AJ

The Ref ruined the fight.

AJ is a rigid fighter, slightly better than Bruno, but not by much, boring to watch, Tyson Fury will leather him if they ever meet.

I have to say it, Fury is so overrated in just about every department apart from his hand speed(footwork no, he is far too clumsy and awkward)... even the performance against Wlad was sloppy in pure technical terms... he timed his Wlad fight well(he saw he was ageing) yet casuals only point out his age in the AJ fight? Fury has never been a top athlete throughout his career, his weight for the wlad fight was his best in years and people act like he was always like that, watch any of his previous fights he was nowhere near that for most of them.

AJ beats which ever version of Fury turns up for me, wont be easy but your talking about a guy who was knocked on his ass by Steve Cunningham who's not even a proper heavyweight.

Ignore the scouser ... he still thinks the dippers will win the league this season...

As @jay_mcfc pointed out, Joshua boxed brilliantly behind the jab, minimising risk and controlling the middle of the ring, it was a a 9/10 performance.

The problem Joshua has is he’s built his reputation on the ‘part-time’ boxing fan base, who think he’ll go in the ring and blast every opponent away, it just isn’t the reality. The better the pedigree the more he’ll have to deal with durability, which he did last night excellently.

As for Wilder, don’t make me laugh.... he’s the one fighter in the division made for AJs style, those windmills make him more open than Katie price on a Friday night ffs... the one fighter who ‘would’ of give him trouble was, Fury, however the length he’s been out may be an issue in my opinion..
