The Boxing thread

For what reason ?
It’s easy to say as it can never be proven.

It’s like like saying Liverpool of 80’s would ‘destroy’ the Man City team of now.
It doesn't need to be 'proven' to most boxing fans mate, we can remember how good those lads were.

Yes, I’m old enough to remember how good they were - I’m just struggling to see how Joshua would be ‘destroyed’ by them when he has never lost and knocked out 99% of all his opponents.

He's good, but he's not fought anyone major bar Parker and the ref handed him that one by stopping Parker every time he got inside AJs guard. 90s/early 00s were a different story completely.

Then way ask the question?

For me it is irrefutable, no current heavyweight lives with the greats of the past.

They are all dogshit. Imagine Wilder, Fury or Whyte in the ring with Tyson, Lewis, Holyfield, the Klitchkos - they'd annihilate the current heavies - and I include Joshua in that.

Fury and AJ both beat Wlad Klit though?

Agree that the heavyweights from the 70s, 80s and 90s were on a different level though. The Klitschkos were so dominant for so long since Lewis retired cos the heavyweight division went through a stage of contenders being too small to compete, or too fat.

Once Fury, a 6ft8 boxer with good technical ability came along, and AJ, an athletic monster, Wlad Klit's era was over, and I believe it would've been earlier if anybody like that turned up 5 or 10 years earlier. Great champion but horrible jab and grab style, those 2 guys were one of the worst things to happen to the division.
