The Boxing thread

Rocky marciano died undefeated, Best know your topic if you want to state anything seriously. I can't believe anybody who knows anything about boxing really rates Fury. He's just a chancer and a rag to boot.

Apart from Chisora
You both spelled it wrong, see my post above. That’s why I posted you both know fuck all. ;-)

Does it matter? no! Anybody who has followed boxing knows Fury is a fraud and has no right to be even mentioned along side those greats. Joshua may well be in time but at least he isn't a one fight drug taking pony.

Haha, I'm not having a discussion, I just pulled you on the fact you claim fury has a weak punch when facts state 18 ko's from 25 bouts is a pretty good stat in any idiots eyes, discussion over, go to bed

Rabbit punches and dodgy stoppages. I watched most of his fights on itv sport. He's a fraud. Google doesn't tell you everything in life my friend.

I’ve not said a word about Fury - nor do I want to (not a fan), I was just jokingly pointing out both of the spelling errors from you and @Pleatfooted. Who responded correctly with
18 ko's from 25 would suggest otherwise mate
To your claim that
Fury has no weight of punch. He throws plenty but they are all weak shots.
You’ve started booing over nothing mate.
I think Fury would take you though ;-)
*just kidding*

Fury is no great by any stretch but he will definitely give Joshua problems with his size reach and style

Some heavyweights are more of a chore to watch. You literally wait for "the punch" all fight, the rest is filler. Some have great fights but guys like Fury and that chap that never throws a punch, Harrison, they plod and do very little to often. I get they are big guys but it can still be hard viewing at times. Contrast that to the lighter lads, i really did check my player settings to see if i had sped it up by x amount. With goldilocks rules Middle weight should be just about perfect for viewing more often than not.

I think Parker isn't getting enough credit, I knew he could box well(from the age of 5 so a big head start on quite a few fighters... AJ, Wilder, Whyte all started late IIRC) but on Saturday he showed he was perhaps underrated in many aspects(those expecting AJ to blow him away were not seeing the task ahead), his hand speed, defence, footwork and the dark arts up close all make for a fighter that a lot of boxers/promoters will look to avoid, especially without a belt to fight for. He also showed why he's never gone to the canvas and it isn't just because of his chin(which he has), he's very elusive when he needs to be and hard to pin down, while having good power and countering himself for anyone who over commits... I don't see anyone blasting him out or having an easy go with him for those reasons.

Given his age I think he'll maybe even come back stronger, I have previously said Parker seemed overrated but I don't think he'll be going away any time soon based off what he showed in his first big fight.

AJ luckily had the right opponents previously to learn from, Takam may not have been a pretty fight but it was invaluable in terms of experience in dealing with different types of fighters. He's learned so much in a short space of time, to think how late he came into the game, he's no longer just a knockout artist who might get frustrated by an opponent trying to take it to points, he can box when he needs to. There are things he could have done better on the night but judging by how he's progressing so far, him and McCracken will go and look over the footage and he'll be even better next time we see him in the ring.

I have AJ vs Wilder 60/40 in AJ's favour as both showed flaws in their last bouts for different reasons. What Wilder has going for him aside from the obvious(his punch power) is his mobility, perhaps a slightly better jab(overstated by some IMO as AJ's is very good). What's also often overlooked is his unorthodox style because not only does it make him unpredictable(like Fury in a way) but also makes it difficult to find similar opponents and sparring partners in preparation for a bout. Slightly tempted to perhaps say it's closer than 60/40 but the right gameplan with the better boxer can negate a lot of that... we saw what happened Naz who was a similar story. I still see AJ as the much better boxer, if he clips Wilder he wont let him recover as Wilder does not have the defensive skillset to deal with AJ picking his punches going for the stoppage. Wilder while being a fighter who relies a lot on his athleticism over his boxing skills, with that one punch KO power he always has a chance especially if AJ makes mistakes and leaves himself open. I also think AJ needs to work on cutting off the ring better than he showed against Parker and his all around footwork because that could be key pinning Wilder down and making him make the mistakes.

Feel AJ v Wilder could be a dud, can see both being very cautious
Whyte v either would be much better spectacle IMO
