Sterling cannot handle Klanfield , he played well at Everton but Robinson will just kick him off the park , love the lad as a footballer but horses for courses , would play Gundogan instead and let Walker push further forward on the right , a lot predicting a negative result because of our record at Klanfield but i think this will be the turning point for our club we will lay the Dipper ghost like we have at the Swamp , Emirates , Goodison and other bogey grounds , lets smash the Scouse pretenders to pieces

Let's give credit where it's due. If it was any other PL team in the QFs, we would have been supremely confident. These lot are the only ones who can knock us out, and Anfield has a huge role in it.

Stamford Bridge, Old Trafford, The Emirites, The Britannia, Goodison were all places we used to struggle. We’ve won at them all this season. It’s a mental thing. Anfield is the last one to go and it’s going on Wednesday.

Old Trafford ? Since 2011-12, we won there 5 times, lost 1 and drew 1

Salah was shit against the rags. Hopefully he will be kept quiet against us. They undoubtedly have some very very good players and possibly will score. But we have the potential to blow them out of the water.

Would fuckin love if if Sterling scored on Wednesday and shut the obnoxious fcukers up.

Considering some of the bile that gets spouted on here, there's not a great deal on that thread to get overly upset by.

I don't get bothered by the names and insult so much - sticks and stones... and all that - for me it is the self-delusion and desperate need to rubbish our club

We were a top club many years ago and then spent some decades in the wilderness - I just remember getting on with it and still going to Maine Rd or wherever to watch my team. I do not remember acting like some entitled cry-baby whingeing on about how some team had stolen our place.

For me they come across as a bunch of entitled knobs who simply cannot get over the fact that the only history that they have got recently is the fact that they have become nothing more than part of history.

Bleating on and comments about CITY such as:

"They want to create a rivalry. They aren't worthy of a rivalry. They can win what they like. They are always going to be a plastic club. When these or chelsea win anything doesn't hurt at all."

"Give me a Bayern, Give me a Barca, give me a Real....Christ, even give me a Manchester United, but this lot, it feels like we've gone and been forced upon/pulled by that fat spotty ugly bird at the school disco................."

As if a club with their rich tradition and history deserve to be in the latter stages of the CL by right and that Anfield deserves to host Real Madrid, Barcelona etc. and that we are just a nothing team - for me just shows:

a) their self-delusion and

b) that, although they cannot stand to admit it and despite what they might say and type, they are shit scared and expect to get knocked-out - so they just have to make up their excuses first to soften the blow

But you are right- there is some right bile spouted on here as well

Bernardo has to start instead of (Anfield) Razza imo, bring him on and let him run down the middle in the 2nd half.

As someone has mentioned, I would not be surprised if Gundogan starts instead of Sterling and B Silva.

I hope not. The only game I can remember when we've played well with a Gundogan in a midfield 4 was Barca at home last season. And that was a very different game against very different opposition to the one I expect on wednesday. Usually when Gundogan plays in a midfield 4 it all becomes too congested, De Bruyne ends up playing out wide where he is less influential. It might be a useful option late in the game but not at the start.

Liverpool are pretty average team except their front 3 who are class, keep these 3 tight they will run out of steam and we will beat them ,going for 3-1 we are a much better team ,take 20 minutes out of the home game before we scored and 20 mins of brain farts out of the away game and we bossed Liverpool twice.

Not sure on either.
Spurs on current form are almost as good, and the reason Liverpool could beat us is nothing to do with the mythical Anfield atmosphere (except for big games and derbies - same as us really and most other clubs). The reason is simply that they are clearly the second best team, and they also have the ability to press, pace and counter attacking ability, all the ingredients that are supposedly needed against us.

Not to be negative, I think on form and either Silva / Kdb playing we are say 70% likely to win.

Incidentally did the mistake of reading the comments below a guardian piece on this match.

Like many other City supporters, beginning to really despise this lot to an extent close to or even more than manure fans. With the latter it's mostly the armchair fans that are annoying, but Liverpool fans really are like crazy, nasty cultists

If we look at all our recent wins against Liverpool, it has come away from Anfield. It's not like we never win against Liverpool. We outplayed them in the LC final and 3 days later got thrashed 0-3 at Anfield. In this season, there is only 1 game our passing game was disrupted and we looked inferior to our opposition. Pep also acknowledged the crowd factor post match.

I expect this game to be like the one in 2013/14, where our every touch was booed from start to finish. The team will have to be mentally prepared for a very hostile atmosphere.

I think the European ref could be a serious boon for us for once. If Sterling does play he will get far more protection than he did in January.

The defeat at Anfield was without Dave and they had a whole week to prepare, whilst we had a League Cup SF that week.
They will get their arses handed to them this time around.

This time round they've had a trip to London for a challenging match 4 days before our game. Our more local game was over at half time.

Also, Liverpool had a Premier League game immediately prior to the international break whilst we were coming back from 5 days in Abu Dhabi.

Last time their intensity got the better of us for 10 minutes, this time will be different.

Jesus completes passes which Aguero doesn’t even see. In a game where we need to make sure not to give the ball away cheaply we can’t afford to have Sergio running into dead ends with his head down.

Jesus v Pool
Serg v Rags
