The Boxing thread

Parker seems to have an ok chin, a good engine, and wasn't marked up badly at all v Joshua. Not once, even when he knew he was 4/5 rounds down, did he take risks. Disappointing. But that's not a problem of AJ's. He didn't gas badly as before and got a win.
 
Parker wants to appear on AJs next card.
I think he should head back to New Zealand first, fight Lucas Browne and then come back to the UK and fight Dillian Whyte...
 
Rumours over here that GGG will be fighting Spike O Sullivan after Canelo got pulled from the fight. I would love to see boxing making a stand against Canelo and fighters like them that get caught. Ideally I would love to see Canelo banned for a year or 2. A professional shouldnt be that foolish to be caught doping for me. I look at GGG he was robbed last time out and he felt that Canelo dopped last time so this doesnt shock me that he got caught this time. Its a shame as Mexico has produced some brilliant warriors and to see him caught is bad for the sport overall. Were all looking for the new face of boxing the pound for pound king and Canelo or GGG could of claimed that with a win against either but sadly us fight fans have been let down.
 
Although it's hard to defend Canelo as cheating is cheating, too many people are confusing what was found in Canelo's system... it's not steroids, it's a substance to cut weight.

By contrast Tyson Fury was found with a type of steroid in his system and blamed it on contaminated offal, yet people are acting like this is worse? Why? Because they are either GGG fans or they hate Canelo because he brings in the most dosh(Mayweather had it the same). His team were advised that there would be no chance this would all be sorted by May, so they pretty much did the right thing. GGG fans were never going to change their mind on the "it was a robbery" angle, most neutral boxing fans have since re-watched it and come to their senses... forget Byrd a draw was right, I even thought Canelo perhaps shaded the 9th round watching the slow-mos back which is something the judges don't have the benefit of I guess but it's still important if someone's being made to miss like that.

I think there is a lot of bullshit coming from the GGG camp and I'm starting to dislike the team around him, bullshit about syringe marks with no evidence, bullshit about illegal wraps they said they saw before the first fight... yet they went ahead with the fight and sat on it for half a year? I highly doubt it, stop with the bullshit, clearly trying to manipulate the tinfoil hat fanbase. That's another thing boxing could do without that seems to be getting worse in the age of social media(youtube, twitter - rants, propaganda and disputes).

Having said that I despise Golden Boy far more there's been too much unnecessary shadyness from them and I say unnecessary because Canelo is in fact a brilliant boxer(he beat Trout, he beat Cotto but the scorecards were suspect in those fights too) up there with anyone in the P4P list but that's being lost on some so called boxing fans because of their antics.

This guy pretty much called it a day or so after the first fight and I'm starting to agree with his sentiments as much as I rate Canelo as a boxer:



What I noticed in his breakdown was on some rounds everything he says points to a 10/10 round but he just didn't want to call it that way, most people do this including myself but I suppose it still evens out in the end.

Truax vs. DeGale rematch is on this Saturday and it seems to be flying under the radar...
 
Everyone is aloud there opinion on Canelo we need to clean up the sport. Its wrong even if its a trace. I like both fighters still think GGG won the first fight will stand by it. What teams say is sad but its to build up the fight when it happens. Canelo is a top fighter no doubting it I just dont feel that we should have 1 rule for 1 fighter another for a different fighter. Boxing needs to set automatic bans for any sort of doping. 1 a 1 year or 2 year ban. Next time permantly ban them from fighting again it has to be the way to sort out this long term.
 
I think they should have classes of infringements, Steroid users are the biggest cheats and the most dangerous(class A), if we apply common sense we'd say not all banned substances are at the same level as that.

The one Canelo had in his system would be to keep the weight down for boxers who struggle to do that(Class B). Stuff like that is clearly not as dangerous if anything they are cheating themselves by not being fit enough to drop the weight naturally. It's still cheating and against fair play so there should still be sanctions(a year and then 2 for a repeat) but save the life bans for the Steroid cheats first and foremost, a 2 year lay off can end a boxers career as it is, as they find they've lost something when they return.

The masking substances could be more tricky(I admit I've not really read up on them much) as I don't know whether some of these can be found in stuff most people eat or not but if there's no reason they would be in someone's system by accident that would make it easier.
 
I'm still hoping chunky fights Groves again somewhere down the line. Not sure it will happen but would be a decent tare up while it lasted. Groves would school him again imo.

I know what your saying but I just dont see it working. There must be a stance make boxing clean for good. No need to be classing it in my opinion. It has to be if your caught once a year ban get caught again and see you a life ban. We got to make it clear to the young kids coming up anyone cheating will be kicked out of the sport. I just think to make boxing great again we need this to happen. The cutting weight is the hardest thing for fighters it is just as bad as steroid use if your cheating to get that advantage it is wrong and you should get banned. I would rather a fighter come in over weight than cheat to gain a advantage like Canelo who is a big puncher and can KO people early.

IF DeGale gets beaten again he wont get near a fight with Groves. Normally I would say he should retire but there is a few domestic fights that could be made. A fight with Chris Eubanks Jnr and Mundo Smith can all be made to make him money just think his time has come to a end. The fight with Jack has damaged DeGale a lot. I think he gets beaten again.

Good article with DeGale in boxing news. Even if he beats Traux still don't see a rematch with Groves. Brilliant fight and could of gone either way. Both have moved on since they met outside the ring at Bellew v Haye last year. Chunky said GG called him to say they should both cash in now. What a difference a year makes.

George Groves can make so many rematches with English fighters. Eubank Jnr if he comes back from the first defeat. A fight with Callum Smith again if the final is close another with DeGale. Hell I would even mention Billy Joe Saunders they could box each other too. When he wants to retire he would of made a lot of money from the fights he was in.
 
Does anyone know how to watch the commonwealth games fight repeats online? Tried to navigate the BBC sport website and it must be the designed by the same people who did citys
