Even watching it on BT I felt like City were the nasty foreign team standing in the way of the British chaps progression to the semi-finals.

Considering Liverpool have barely done anything in years, their PR machine in the media and sports channels is incredible.

It’s even stronger than United.

It's a mixture of istry and sympathy.

How all too easily the media seemed to forget that in 1885, English club teams were banned from European competition because of them.

It wasn't their fault that night either.

Liverpool's expanded fan base comes from them winning everything in the 70's and 80' (most casual fans 40 to 50 year old will support Liverpool), United's expanded fan base comes from them winning everything in the 90's and 00's (with casual fans 20 to 30 year olds) It was easy to support the team that was winning everything if you didn't know a lot about football.

The Guardian is just a Liverpool Fanzine right now. Should have known better than to look.

The coach incident has been swept aside by them.

The Fail, to their credit, have focused on it all day.

Who is doing the articles for the Guardian? Nakrani?

That article he produced on team of the year last week was an utter disgrace.

One thing that has been evident since the Liverpool result is that a lot of people on here have bought into the media narrative about us being a great team and have lost a sense of perspective. The whole 'great side' debate was a ploy designed to set us up to fail. Teams are never judged on greatness midway through a season, it's unheard of and it certainly didn't happen to Chelsea last season why they were going on a record breaking winning streak.

Pep has already said that to be considered great you have to win many (back-to-back) titles and we cannot achieve that in one season. Funnily enough, that's the same conclusion point all of the media and pundits arrive at despite filling air time and pages in telling us why we are not a great side.

We lost our 4th game of the season last night in all competitions and some people are making it out to be a travesty.

Nick Harris aka Sporting Unintelligent posting the usual salty tweets about us. He's one serious bitter wanker.

5th.

Refreshing and great perspective on the match from Jonathan Liew in The Independent without all the "atmosphere" nonsense which all football fans around the country are fed up of hearing about.

Echoes what a lot of us have been saying on here. Anfield another dimension City, just a bad performance - move on and hope for a great one on Tuesday, Gundogan as an extra man in midfield simply doesn't work etc.

Could have told that to Pep after 15 minutes, couldn't believe we came out the second half with the same 11, but he's right more than he's wrong.
